In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
ineluctable \in-i-LUCK-tuh-bul\, adjective:
ineluctability; noun
ineluctably; adverb
1. Impossible to avoid or evade, inevitable.
2. Not to be overcome by struggling; irresistible.
Linnaeus' classification scheme became popular not because it captured some ineluctable truth about nature. Rather, by the botanist's own admission, the system divided species based more on intuition than science, much as an art historian might group paintings into schools.
--"Cultivating a New Tree," Los Angeles Times, September 25, 1999
Etymology: Latin ineluctabilis, from in- + eluctari to struggle clear of, from ex- + luctari to struggle, wrestle; akin to Latin luxus dislocated. Date: circa 1623

TOPICS: Education; Humor; Word For The Day

The doggies and I are doing a lot better. The flu is over. Those poor guys had it as badly as I did. They didn't move for two days.
This morning they were out romping around. And so am I!

Moonbeam alert.
"There are two Americas," said Jerry Brown, a former governor of California. One was "an America of isolationship and retreating from co-operation with the world" and the other was an America that was trying to reduce its impact on the global climate.
"We stand with the majority of the people in the US and the majority of people at this conference in the need to reduce poverty without harming the environment," he declared.
What a bunch of pap and pablum.

Jerry Brown's girl friend sang him this song: "You're no good, you're no good, you're no good, you're noooooo good."
I lived in CA when he was the Guv. During his tenure his father, the former Guv, was at a Dodger game. He was attacked at knifepoint by two punks. His father did not press charges. He felt soooooo sorry for the punks.

Have you been to Bowling Green lately? LOL. Can't say that I have. Although I will be in Cincinnati all weekend. I'm so looking forward to it (/rolling my eyes)
To: RikaStrom
Much as I hate to be a downer, when I read stories such as these, they merely bolster my ever-growing suspicions that the world has become ineluctably vile. I'm doubling your fun this morning by including both.
First off, our friends the Danes are slowly discovering that multiculturalism has its drawbacks.
And, of course, right here at home, I find out that pedophiles are only mentally disordered if they feel bad about what they're doing. (Check out paragraph five if you don't believe me.)
Have a nice day, kids!
