Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.
It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.
But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.
And yeah, compared to you I am humble. "And darn proud of it, too! So there!" If I ever leave, or return, I'm not going to write some annoying, vapid, self-centered screed about it. Because why? NOBODY CARES. "Except, if anyone doubts that I'm humble, I will make sure to repeat that I *am*!" Thatcher, didn't anyone tell you that if you have to *say* it... you aren't it?
You earned it. Now stop beating a dead horse already. You're annoying.
Again, think you are over-interpreting these words. They merely mean starting with what we have today and changing it to more conservative as we can - as opposed to working to immediately return to the beginning.
However much we like things as the forefathers set them up - they are not what we have today. To continually bemoan this fact and expect a leader who wins an election to come in and throw out all changes for the last 200 years and return us to the country as it started, is daydreaming in my view.
Even if you don't agree with my term "as we go forward" - that is really all anyone can do unless there is a revolution and forceable takeover of the government.
We do have the democrat party that counters anything a conservative wants to do. This is the check and balance in our system now and there is nothing that will change that.
All that will be possible other than daydreaming is to support a candidate with as much conservatism as possible to get elected and start there. He, of course, will have to deal with the opposing democrats as everyone does and he may have to play politics to get anything done.
Then the next election, we search for the most conservative candidate we can get elected and continue our steps forward. The ideal would be to have so many in government that we could bring about radical change and temper the power of the socialistic, liberals.
Isn't calling them anti-freaks implying that the place they're against is populated by freaks in the first place? This isn't making a lot of sense to me.
Hm..... Nice to know this. I will note that little fact. Guess if someone sends him a letter, he does the same.
Hope they are not paying you for manners or respect for those that might discuss things with you.
Whatever.
,,, I'd buy that word for a dollar! Hey author, the cheque's in the mail.
Actually, not.
Talk about low self-esteem. You think the GOP needs both houses and the presidency in order to make strides? Hell, the democrats have been making strides year after year, whether they owned a majority or not. They could only do that because the GOP and the DNC march in lockstep on principle. It is only in means and speed of implementation where they differ.
Thank you, Mr. Roe v Wade.
