Giving priority to what is most important, I have decided to swallow my pride. I had a dustup with a moderator. I lost. Though I think the moderators need a tuneup they ain't so bad really. I depend on them to keep this site from becomming a free for all whacko hate site. I used to push the abuse button quite frequently on my fave undesirables ... anti-semite, haters. I notice they're a bit thin around here lately.
It is most important that Free Republic live and thrive. It is less important that I get things my way around here. Though I do not agree completely with the proposition that it is Jim's site and he can do with it what he damn will pleases ... It's as much our site, collectively, as it is his now. Perhaps Jim does ride herd a bit too hard on this creation he gave birth to. Fact is I don't know. I simply don't have enough information.
But it is a given that FR is the best there is at what it does. If it's only my morning paper and a place to exercise my verbal skills ... it's worth supporting. Now is the time for all level headed thinking FReepers to come to the aid of our wounded friend ... Free Republic.

Does that mean I'm going to have to wear my High Voltage rubber gloves when I come here now???

A picture worth a thousand posts!!

I kinda think we may have turned that corner. We all got a graphic demonstration of just how bad it can get. Personally I vow to do no scab picking and to try and nip it in the bud when I see it.
There are a substantial number of people around here I just plain do not like and the feeling is mutual. So what. I agree to disagree with them and if they get nasty I'll either ignore them ... or invite them to actually meet me at a mutually acceptable halfway point and stomp the living _______ outa them. (Not really, but whenever we are tempted to be outright mean around here we ought to remember how we would act in a real face to face.)

I mean, I guess I could've had him blindfolded and shot like we did that other guy, but decided that might be a little harsh. If you should decide to change your mind, would the deed be done before or after breakfast?
If before, may I have - well, you know

Either that or insulate your chair. Maybe both. I hear this thing has enough voltage to arc several inches. This will bring a whole new meaning to "zapping" a flamer.

Pull a Ronald Reagan on them

Actually, when any good and loyal FReeper quits it hurts both FRee Republic and America.
Our mission is to Take the Country Back from the Liberal/Socialist/Marxist Bastards who are working day and night to destroy us and our way of life.
The time and energy we spend bad-mouthing and flaming each other is time away from our primary purpose, and IMHO, has no place on this forum.
Jeez -- we have enough trouble dealing with the Real Disruptors! Surely we ought not endure the faux disruptors who just like to make smart-ass remarks and cause trouble to prove how amart and witty they are.
If you are smart and witty, use your smarts and wits to advance the cause, i.e., be productive rather than destructive!
If we do not learn how to disagree without being disagreeable, and continue these inane flame wars and the politics of personal destruction (which drives good FReepers away), the Liberal/Socialist/Marxist Bastards will have won a cheap and easy victory!
We know who the enemy is, but if we keep trashing each other and drumming FReepers out of the Corps, we are not advancing our cause or slowing the enemy's advance.
Can we agree to disagree without being disagreeable? Can we agree to work together for the common goal of advancing our cause?
Or are we doomed?
Eagles Up!

You are not obligated to fulfill your side of the promise until Registered fulfills his.Honestly, it's cool. In some ways, it's a win for me too. But think about it: If you work this just right (and get him to hold out longer), you might be able to get rid of a whole bunch of people. ;)
Take care, Sir G. No hard feelings.

I agree whole-heartedly.
In the words of Patrick Henry:
"No man thinks more highly than I do of the patriotism, as well as abilities, of the very worthy gentlemen who have just addressed the house. But different men often see the same subject in different lights; and, therefore, I hope it will not be thought disrespectful to those gentlemen if, entertaining as I do opinions of a character very opposite to theirs, I shall speak forth my sentiments freely and without reserve."

I hope that others can take heed of the wisdom from one of those who risked a lot to get this country off the ground.

Wow! Guess I'd better keep it on the low setting for all but the very worst of the DU disruptors. Wouldn't want to singe any eyebrows.

I am not trying to work anything. And even if I were, I haven't spoken with Registered since way before he left, and rarely at that. I'd have to check my emails.
If you leave now, you're leaving out of personal choice, not out of upholding your word...a technicality I suppose. Perhaps you grow tired of that screen name and wish for another. Ah well, it's not my concern. So long.
