Happy Sunday all....just got up a little while ago, and began all those nagging little chores like washing clothes and such...I agree, who puts all those clothes in the hamper...there are just two of us here, and sometimes I wonder how two people can go through so many clothes...

Same goes for the garbage and the recycle....I often exclaim, 'How can two people make so much garbage'....its really quite annoying, having goblins come in the house during the night, depositing dirty clothes, and lots of garbage...

Today will be a fun day...soon I will get Bigdom up, who I am letting sleep late as he just finished up working six straight days, 11hrs a day, at the trusty post office...

Then later on this afternoon, we will head out to Commencement Bay in Tacoma, in search of things to make us happy...lots of eats, treats, beer, and fun....I dont think chair breaking is on our schedule, but who knows...

Its cloudy here today, tho still warm...sure wish it was more clear, as being on the BAY, would have given us a clear view of the Olympic Mountains to the west of us...
Well, maybe it clear up a little by the time we get there...

AC..thanks for the link about Labor Day and its origins...will have to read that later on today...

Dont know what kind of food we will find for todays eating pleasure...I do know that tomorrow, we are going to have Copper River Salmon...we always get an abundance of various types of salmon here, but Copper River is the best tasting, most wonderful salmon of all....usually the run is earlier in the year and we had a lot of it this season....dont know where the store got its supply from since the season is over, but who cares...its just yummy Salmon, and we shall enjoy it tomorrow...

We have our everyday flags flying, but tomorrow, we shall put up a very old American Flag, that belonged to my husbands father...BigDom does not like to put it up too often, as its beginning to wear somewhat, and exposing it daily to the elements would only wear on it further...but on special days, we march out to the front door, and put up our flag...it goes up next to the regular everyday flag, and it does look grand to see 2 American flags flying side by side...

The kids around here are really whooping it up, as they finally do return to school next week, I think on the Wednesday after Labor Day...we seem to be one of the last areas to go back to school...but then, we are one of the last areas to get out for the summer...probably has to do with the weather here...

Anyway, hope everyone enjoys their Sunday, this Labor Day Weekend Sunday...

Well, chores are done, so need to take my bath and get beautiful, to head out for day of fun...who knows what we shall experience...and what characters we may meet...

I have been listening to Jimmy Buffet this morning...sure do love his songs...my favorite being 'Pirate over 40'...dont know why I so enjoy that song, as I never wanted to be a pirate...but the song seems to lament being born 200yrs too late to be one of the old timey pirates...I guess some people, sometimes, do feel like they were really born in the wrong century or the wrong decade...

Which I guess, draws me to think of my dad...now he was all for progress, and the wonders that come with progress, such as new inventions, new inroads in medicine, and of course, the electronic age of radio, Tv, and naturally the internet...But there was a lingering hankering in him, for a return to a slower pace of life....

Spending a day of fishing, woodcarving, playing with us kids, while mom cooked outdoors on the grill, and then we sat around the campfire, and joked and talked, and roasted marshmallows, before retiring into our tent for the night...perhaps that is why dad loved camping so...it allowed us to return to a quieter, slower way of life, if only for a few days...

Just some of my thoughts returning to me, over this Labor Day weekend....even when I was married and had the kids, I would still go with my mom and dad when they went camping over the Labor Day Weekend...the boys loved to camp and fish and be with their beloved 'Grammie and Pop-Pop'....often Bigdom had to work some of the days of the Labor Day Weekend, and he would always tell me to go on ahead and go camping...he would be fine alone...

We usually went down to some campground or another, near the Mississippi River, as my dad so loved that river...he would watch it, and contemplate it, and fish it and be happy doing what he loved to do...fish, and woodcarve while waiting for the fish to bite...me and kids would be looking for agates on the shore, the boys playing and laughing and getting filthy...me and mom would sit together, watching our dear boys, talking about anything and everything...a slower pace of life...

Now, goodness, I am getting sappy, and making myself cry...funny how that little Jimmy Buffet song, could bring all these memories flooding back to me...

Perhaps even tho we may not want to be pirates, many of us at times, may have a hankering for looking backwards, and seeing a sweeter, gentler time, so many years ago...

I have some funny tales of things that happened over our Labor Day camping trip....camp grounds are great places to meet a whole range of folks, and indeed, I have met some winners...so altho I still have not finished up on my Greyhound stories, I think tomorrow, I will tell some tales about the folks we have met camping over the Labor Day weekends...

Cheers all...
