Note that earthquakes happen all the time. So it's easy to say that they might be increasing, because quite frankly most people are unaware of just how common they are.

I AGREE.
Have been interested in whether the above 5.0 have been increasing. Evidently not the last 2 years. Have wanted to plot the USGS stuff on Excel but haven't gotten to it.
Does the lessening the last 2 years of some higher intensity quakes indicate a locking up and building up of pressure? I don't know. But it wouldn't surprise me.
In any case--given the state of the world, I personally don't expect God's mercy to extend forever in terms of the projected big quakes. Tooooo many puzzle pieces indicate otherwise.
