I didn't realize that until I saw those three shows on HGTV in a row. Light clicks on in my head. :) And I too don't really care, unless their lifestyle is blatantly in my face. But it does seem that the whole gay/lesbian/alternative lifestyle community has become much more militant about demanding that we acknowledge their lifestyles and approve of them. A whole can of psychological worms, and one issue I won't tangle this thread with...

Our WEAX stats right now 91, feels like 95, hummidity is at 43%...the temp has risen but the hummidity dropped. It's too hot to even stand outside and partake in my nasty habit.

Ah yes, Christopher Lowell, a cross between Richard Simmons and Martha Stewart. He used to have some good ideas, I've used some of them in my home. But lately he is too frou-frou and busy for me.

I have to finish ironing, and get ready for class, so it's time to shut down and lock up the lap-top. Everybody have a great day.

But lately he is too frou-frou and busy for me. Ah, yes, proving a point....

Yup, have to watch ourselves going through Northern Virginia. Noticed a lot of state troopers out as well.
Chair - - how the heck did you "speed through" Vienna, VA? - - you certainly were not on Chain Bridge Road - - there's a stop light every 50 feet, it seems.
Everyone stay cool - - it's supposed to be a record breaking 100 in the Northern part of the Old Dominion today - - and in the high 90's for the rest of the week.
Man, I wish it would rain - - I'd leave work and go dance in it!!

I have a brother who is really good with color, decorating, space, proportions, etc. He just has a natural gift. I tried to talk him into at least taking some interior design classes at BYU when he was there, but he refused. He told me 'too many swooshy men in that field.' His wife finally talked him into taking some home study courses in the field, and his skills have become much more refined. She's pretty smart, she told him he would be more marketable with that knowledge (make more money), and it has proven to be true.

I actually have Christopher Lowell's book. It is a very good primer in how to decorate a room.
I agree he has gotten too frou-frou lately. I do not like "precious" decorating, and perhaps the pressure of producing all those shows means he is running out of ideas.
I will now present for you "Miss Marple's Rules of Decorating":
1.) Most women prefer to decorate in the colors that they are most comfortable wearing.
2.) ALL people, when decorating a home, try to emulate (consciously or unconsciously) THEIR idea of "rich people" decorating. The key to understanding the differences in taste depends on whom you first think about when the word "rich" comes to mind. If you think of a movie star, you probably prefer contemporary or art deco. If you think of Blenheim Palace or Devonshire House, you prefer antiques and chintz. If you think of old New England money, you probably prefer 18th century antiques or country.
3.) Once a trend hits K-Mart, IT'S OVER.

Great rules! I like the shabby chic/country/lived-in style myself. And Rule #3: Does this mean that Martha Stewart is OVER since she sells her stuff at K-Mart?

Hey, Chair! Have a great vacation! Safe one too. And wave at me when you're in Utah. I'm about 45 miles south of SLC. :)
