10,000 light years away towards the constellation of Sagittarius.

That puts the object considerably closer to the center of the Milky Way than we are. The Milky Way is about 100,000 light-years across and we aren't on the outer edge, but somewhat closer to the edge than the center. 10,000 light-years is pretty far to be seeing such detail.
