AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 561) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | August 4, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 08/04/2002 4:30:44 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter and we will not fail! [President Bush]

Good Morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

In a closed-door meeting with Secretary Rumsfeld, the head of the US Special Operations Command reportedly discussed a series of agressive covert operations to conduct against Al Qa'eda.

Otherwise, not much news of import.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I thought you were supposed to be flying half-way round the world by now. Is everything ok?

GENTLEMEN: IF YOU EMBARASS EASILY, SKIP THIS NEXT SECTION. DON'T SAY I DIDN'T WARN YOU.

Well, to make a story shorter: I developed a condition similar to the one in Luke 8:43. At 1:15 on Saturday AM, I called the local emergency room for advice whether or not to try to fly. They were amazingly non-commital.

So, I called my friend the doc, IN INDONESIA, to get her advice. She knows my history and I have had similar conditions before, but I'd rather gut this out then seek intervention. A self-limiting condition needs patience.

Anyway she said not to fly with it as severe as it was but go to the ER later and get treated. She told me the two probable treatments and pros and cons of them.

Later, when it was day, I went to the ER. The plane had already taken off by then, but given my history this could go on literally for WEEKS and I wanted a quick end to it. The doc there consulted a specialist by phone and recommended one of two treatments. Since my plans were already shot, the medicine rather then the mechanical treatment was chosen.

So, I'm taking a pill once a day, it should be cleared up in the next day or two. I'm already seeing improvement, btw. I'm cleared to fly as early as Wednesday, but the flights were all booked until 11 August.

More details are available by private freepmail. Even to you gentlemen.

My friend nailed the diagnosis. She also emailed me today and told me that she has on her shelf the pills I need. She didn't tell me because, rightly thinking, she suspected I would go ahead and fly and try to gut it out.
She wrote that with the lesser pressure at higher altitudes I could easily have hemmoraged and the plane diverted to Anchorage or somewhere.

The other passengers ought to thank me.

So, I'll be here for another week.

It is now. It probably was then. But it could have gotten serious enroute.

I was thinking of others, instead of myself. (patting myself on the back now and smiling)

I am SURE of it. Too often have I had my plans altered by one thing or another and I have found out the impact it has made. I think we are unaware of how important the small details are in our lives. The corners we turn, the time we take pausing and speaking to another person, all manage to change a time table and supposedly "chance" meetings.

When God tells me that He has numbered the hairs on our heads and that He is aware of even the SPARROWS, I realize that nothing is out of His control.

Jesus, I am resting, resting, in the joy of who Thou art,
I am finding out the details of thy loving heart.

I realize that nothing is out of His control.

It's amazing. When I see how everything has worked out in the last year for me, I quit trying to control things. I even worry about things less, because I can see His Hand controlling my path.

I am really praying as you consider your B&B, or whatever it is you'll do after this job assignment.

BTW, if you are in my neck of the woods, I live on Pos 7 on the left.

The B&B will be some years down the road. I AM going to find another career before that. I've got an appointment with Aimes Culinary Academy to discuss what it would take to make me a "Chef". I'm ready to spend some time in a resturant kitchen.

That's Mr. ML's dream job.

He used to cook in restaurants; nothing fancy, just Holiday Inns & stuff.

You should see what he whipped up for my friend's birthday dinner; filet mignon, wrapped in bacon, with mushroom sauce. Yum. And for dessert, cannoli, from scratch. They were out of this world.

I'm getting ready to live my dream job, one way or another. Learning that I can live on 25% of my current income was rather enlightening and very liberating. I want to enjoy my work, and I'm burned out now with the unix system administration and process automation stuff.

Well, who can blame you??? All that gibberish.;^)

Seriously, you obviously have a gift for cooking. I hope you can figure out a way to do it for a living.

Hubby has toyed with the idea of teaching classes here at our house, for "beginning" cooks; you know, teaching them the basics & all.............

His reasoning is that young people today are not being taught to cook by their moms the way they used to be, and therefore rely too heavily on fast food, take out, etc.

He should do it. Teaching is satisfying in it's own right, but teaching cooking would be wonderful. Encourage him.

I have been.

He loves to cook and he's good at it. He also has lots of patience and enjoys sharing his cooking "secrets" with others. I think he'd be great at it.
