Good morning all...chilly here this morning, just 51 degrees, and due to go up to 73...so it will be a nice day...

On the matter of politics...here is my take, take it for what is worth....

I dont believe that any current President will ever take any steps to purposefully disgrace or disparage another former President, especially to the point, where that former President risks going to jail...its just not done...

Its as if, once a person becomes President, they operate on a different level, always trying to protect the ideal, the office, the integrity of the 'President', even tho a former president, by his actions, has disgraced that office...

Its like in the military...when a soldier salutes, he is not saluting the officer in the uniform, he is saluting the rank on that uniform, the ideal of paying respect to the rank, even tho you may hate the person in that uniform...
Its difficult to understand, how one can salute and respect the rank on a uniform, yet perhaps hate the individual representing that rank...

And so it goes, I think with Presidents, past, and present...its as if they believe that by disparaging a former President, you are disparaging the office of President itself, and as I said before, its just not done...

I believe that in general politics is a corrupting force...a politician may have the best of intentions, but the power, the prestige, the opportunity for making money, the influence, the media coverage, are corrupting forces...and whether the corruption is inherent in politics itself, or whether the corruption flourishes because, we as humans, as weak, is another question...

That does seem to be a pessimisstic view of politics, yet one which I have held for so very many years...which is why I am never surprised when this or that politician gets caught at doing something he should not be doing...

I guess the job for us regular folks, us regular voters, is to try to decide which politician is the least corrupt...at least that is how I have to vote....

I will never trust any politician fully, never...from the local politicians in my own town, to the President of the United States, not one of them has my absolute trust...

Politicians must be kept on their toes, by being regularly criticised and scrutinized....by placing blind faith in any politician, is asking for trouble, as far as I am concerned...

Call me untrusting, paranoid, pessimistic, if you must, but at least I am not surprised when even what are deemed by others to be honest politicians get caught in some scheme or illegal venture...

Do I ever think that Pres. Bush will ever take steps to root out the evil, and shenanigans of the Clintons? No, I dont think that will ever come to pass...

The integrity of the ideal of the office of 'President' seemingly must be kept, regardless of what offenses particular individuals have done while in the office of President...

Am I a cynic? Absolutely...Do I see all politics with a jaded eye? You bet....

Rant for the day is over..some would say I should be medicated....

YOU are SPOT ON..and using the military rank analogy is the IDEAL one to use....I can faithfully attest to that here....You all know how I am soooo most unhappy with my boss right now...but the rank this person holds is the respect she gets from me..havening spent 10 years in the military I can't just set that aside...and politicians are the same. You respect the office they hold, not the individual....

hi andysmom
I appreciate your ''rant''
I like hearing how others see things and I learned from your post
I placed perfect faith in George Bush, else I wouldn't have campaigned for him the way I did
I took it hard, when he chose to sweep the clinton corruption under carpet
I don't regret how idealistic I was
I like being idealistic
Love, Palo
