In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
turpitude \TUR-puh-tood; -tyood\, noun:
turpitudes; noun, plural
1. Inherent baseness or vileness of principle, words, or actions; shameful wickedness; depravity.
2. A base act.
3. A corrupt or depraved or degenerate act or practice
They were not his misdeeds, his turpitudes; she accused him of nothing--that is, of but one thing, which was not a crime.
--Henry James, The Portrait of a Lady
Etymology: Middle French, from Latin turpitudo, from turpis vile, base. Date: 15th century
Here is my example with WFTD.
"We are proud of Motorola's growing history with the gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgendered (GLBT) community, including its support of our internal GLBT employee group and organizations that are important to us," write Bob Williams and Audrey Lin, co-leaders of Motorola's Gay & Lesbian Business Council in a letter posted on the website.
A call to Williams was not returned. Lin told WorldNetDaily she did not want to comment.
Motorola Corporate Communications Senior Director Margot Brown told WorldNetDaily the Gay & Lesbian Business Council is one of five corporate groups Motorola created in 2000 to improve "business links to diversity" and "to have an inclusive environment." In addition to gays and lesbians, Asians, blacks, Latinos and women are represented by these corporate councils. (snip)
"However, the homosexual activists are by far the most feared by management," he said, "And, it appears, [they] have free rein of internal media, corporate resources, and event scheduling."
"White male Motorolans often joke about forming a club, website, or common activity," the engineer continued.
But insecurity born out of Motorola's apparent priority of diversity keeps them quiet about their anger.
Diversity is the corporations cry
Include everyone except the white guy
Moral turpitude
Is no longer rude
Its turning our nation into a pig sty
Moral Turpitude
What should be behind closed doors

Now before anyone starts in on my lack of tolerance, you better get your stories straight. I dont care what any two/three/four consenting adults do behind closed doors. If they want to destroy themselves, let them, just dont involve children, non-consenting adults or animals.
Also, dont make me welcome your alternative lifestyle, and certainly dont bring that garbage to work. Youre nothing special, therefore you shouldnt get special rights. Diversity is destroying us, from the inside.
My homework is an example of the opposite of turpitude... Peggy Noonan meets the Pope.

Hey, Torch, what should we interpret, Dude
About the extent of your turpitude?
In a statement quite strong
You admit to no wrong
Youre a sleazeball, of that there is certitude
Has anyone checked the Janitor's Closet? We seem to be missing a few croqs and coquettes.
And, on this same subject, as an end-of-the-week extra credit...
But, as readers will recall, I said a couple of months back that the old has-bin was pushing up daisycutter bits in the Hindu Kush and I don't figure we'll be seeing him on video again unless he's dancing with Fred Astaire in a new Dirt Devil commercial.
ROTFLMAO!!! Steyn rules.
