WHEW, I found you good people! I have been searching for this thread for two solid days! Does anyone have any advice on how I can find you? I've been scrolling to the end of each forum to lead me here. SEARCH doesn't seem to do it...THANKS

that reminds me of something....remember early on the cops...at least the media...were saying that they thought it was someone not quite right??..somebody not really smart...not retarded but slow in some way?

You are probably searching under News. You have to go to General Interest to do the search.

What I do is right click on the thread and save it to my desk top. Then I don't have to hunt for it when I come back to the computer. At the end of each thread will be the link for the new thread.

I don't recall that, but it does make sense out of the Smarts' comments about the person not being able to keep Liz and have a life with her and how he must return her to them (this is major paraphrasing).

In retrospect, I think we do need a handle on certain aspects of the church. Those fundamentalists, polygamists, may be a part of Elizabeth's disappearance.

Not long ago, someone posted that some of them are "jet setters" - have mucho money & are big investors in Utah's economy - money that is intertwined with that of the LDS. That could be why LE is holding back on showing a composite drawing.

Or maybe the Smarts' love their daughter so much they could not conceive of anyone not wanting to have a life with her, and they were in denial that something worse could, and likely would, happen to her.

Still, a person with below normal intelligence might not understand that he can't keep the girl.

Have there been other cases in which polygamists have kidnapped girls whose families have nothing to do with polygamy, in Utah or elsewhere? Were the girls found alive and well and returned to their families?

Not to my knowledge, but have only researched it once.
There's always a first time, though, particularly if a man became enamored with Elizabeth.

"Poor Sherlock" has said plenty of mean things to many of us. Don't "Poor Sherlock" that piece of granite - we're in the kitchen because we can stand the heat, so he/she can take it or get out.

I noticed that in the first weeks, like she was talking to a child. About a month later she did it a few more times. But I don't see Mrs. Smart much anymore, her appearances are pretty infrequent.

We need some new facts in the case so we can discuss something more substantive than how many times Ed Smart said 'you know' in his last television appearance.
