You are correct that the testimony is that it is not a common fiber. So, what did it come from? Fibers don't appear out of thin air, do they ?

Only if it helps the prosecution.
Just like fat drunk men can steal children in a house that never sleeps and get away with it.

So, what did it come from? Fibers don't appear out of thin air, do they ?Only Westerfield knows for sure and he's not saying. But look for Dusek to argue that DW destroyed the source. From yesterday's hearing:
MR. DUSEK: 2.06 WOULD BE THE HIDING, DISPOSAL, GETTING RID OF, TRYING TO GET RID OF, THE BLOOD EVIDENCE ON THE JACKET, TAKING IT TO THE DRYCLEANER'S, TRYING TO CLEAN THAT UP. TAKING THE COMFORTER TO THE DRYCLEANER'S WHEN IT STILL HAD DOG HAIRS ON IT. THE MISSING COWBOY BOOTS THAT HE APPARENTLY WAS WEARING THAT NIGHT. THEY HAVE BEEN LOST, DESTROYED, CONCEALED. THE VICTIM'S PAJAMAS HAVE NEVER BEEN FOUND. THEY HAVE BEEN LOST, DESTROYED, CONCEALED. AND ALSO THE MATERIAL THAT CONTAINS THE BLUE AND ORANGE FIBERS, THEY HAVE NEVER BEEN FOUND OR LOCATED. I BELIEVE THEY'VE BEEN DESTROYED OR CONCEALED.

There was a piece on the other night about Cary Stayner and the Yosemite murders. Because one of the victim's wallets was planted in Modesto, CA, the local police went after known criminals. One of the men was arrested on something irrelevant and held because he had a fiber that was similar to a fiber from the last known place the victims were. That particular felon was in NO WAY SHAPE OR FORM involved with the victims or Cary Stayner. Yeah, fibers count.
Similar means every thing. Wonder why it was wrapped around her necklace but not wrapped around anything of his? IMO, to have been that tangled in her neclace it wasn't new. Duh.
