06/05/01	Tuesday	Ricci steals items from the Smart home while he is employed there as a handyman. Ricci is charged in July of 2002 of 1 count of theft related to the Smart incident.
05/30/02	Thursday	~ Ricci returns to pick up his Jeep at the auto repair shop before the shop has a chance to fully fix it He tells the repairman that it needed for an emergency.
06/04/02	Tuesday	~ Ricci is at work from about 9am to 5:30pm ~ Ricci claims he spends the evening with friends
06/05/02	Wednesday	~ 1:05am - 2 cars are spotted on the SLC Shriner's Hospital Parking Lot by a hospital security guard, two blocks from the Smart residence ~ 1:30am (approx) - Elizabeth is kidnapped from her home ~ 1:30am - Ricci claims to be in bed asleep with his with wife. ~ Ricci is scheduled to be off work all day today. ~ 7:21am - Rachel/Amber alert is issued and national media is involved. ~ 8:30am - Ricci and his neighbor talk about the kidnapping of Elizabeth, Ricci seems to know too much information about it. ~ Sometime during this day Ricci is visited by police in regards to Elizabeth's kidnapping as reported by Angela Ricci (Richard A. Ricci's Wife which is an ex-convict herself) ~ Ricci is seen by his neighbor digging a hole by his (Ricci's) trailer early in the morning. (heard the neighbor say this on TV)
06/06/02	Thursday	~ Ricci is scheduled to work from 9am to 5:30pm today, but instead works from 10:30am to 7:00pm ~ Police talk to Ricci this day about the Elizabeth Smart kidnapping. (The media is reporting this, so it could be wrong)
06/08/02	Saturday	~ Ricci returns the Jeep to the repair shop to get it fixed. The Jeep is muddy and the repair shop owner sees Ricci remove seat covers from the back of the jeep and place them into a plastic garbage bag that already contains other stuff in it. Also the repair shop owner said a muddy post hole digger was in the back of the Jeep, Ricci removes this also. Ricci has a man waiting across the street to give him a ride. Ricci takes the plastic bag and contents along with the post hole digger with him. Also there is 500 to 1000 extra miles on the Jeep since Ricci picked it up on May 30th, 2002.
06/14/02	Friday	~ Ricci is taken into custody for a parole violation, this being drinking while on parole and association with other ex-cons.
07/11/02	Thursday	Formal charges are filed against Ricci (2 counts of theft & 1 count of burglary) on the theft & burglary of the Smart neighbors home which occurred in April 2001, and 1 more count of theft for stealing from the Smart home on June 6th, 2001.

I don't have any love for Ricci, but my instincts are that he wouldn't have been party to a plan to kill her from the get go.

I have no problem believing Ricci would plan to molest her and eventually kill her from the beginning.

By the way...does anyone know who gave this advise to Mr. Smart that Ricci was good to hire ?

Might have been his brother, TOM?, or his other business partner listed on the new development they're building. Would be interesting to do a search on their construction businesses to see if there are other business partners listed. Anyone have the time??

All I do remember is that Mr. Smart did speak on this, but I don't think he gave a name. He said, " a friend " or "someone ".

I think it was a contractor that told him about Ricci.

Sherlock, don’t you think it is about 1,000,000 times more likely that the milkman just wrote the number down wrong? In fact, it absolutely ABSURD to assume the license plate was a phony made by convicts!! What an imagination!!

A phony license plate made by convicts would be WAY WAY at the bottom of the list of possible reasons for the mailman’s plate number not being valid.

Poor Edmunds most not have very good connections. I guess he couldn't get one of those phony plates from the prison, so he had to go out and STEAL REAL plates from other cars!

Please enlighten me because I am perplexed by the downright vicious attacks on people who conclude that someone other than Ricci must be behind this. It's almost like we are talking about Lee Harvey Oswald and the assasination of JFK.

I have never attacked anyone. My comments were of a general nature concerning the postulating that goes on here. While I often appreciate Jolly's opinions, I also find his tact to be lacking and I've told him so myself. So far as I've seen officially, law enforcement has indicated that Ricci is the number one suspect at this time. It is also true that if he was involved then he was likely to have accomplices. Don't discount that he could have been the brains behind this. The security guard at Shriners Hospital who knew Ricci from his time as a prison guard indicated that Rick was very intelligent. If you saw Mr Truillo interviewed on LKL you would have noted that he was well spoken and obviously very bright himself. As for the post hole digger we are probably making too much of it on this forum. Obviously there are better tools for burying a body but it would work better than using your bare hands. It would be nice if Mr. Ricci would just come out and clear up what was going on with the jeep during those days surrounding the abduction. Until the SLPD/FBI come out and state otherwise I'm going to be focusing my attention on one Richard Albert Ricci and his KNOWN associates. I will continue to read and consider posts from you and others who provide plausible theories. I will not consider theories that include the Smarts and or law enforcement conspiracies unless they are backed up with some facts. Without facts they belong in the tin foil hat realm.

LOL. I think you're a little slow, Milo, I'm sure everyone else knew that was a joke.

You missed it again, Milo. The license number is not on file with the DMV and the Honda used the phony plate and later Edmunds used it. This is what tied Edmunds to the case. Man, you really come across as a hothead, get a life.

That (the attacks) has been a mystery ever since this thread began. It may be a bigger mystery than the disappearance of Elizabeth.

I searched "Elizabeth Smart" on that site and came up with a few articles which mostly discuss why the media has continued to make such a big deal over this case. Nothing interesting in terms of clues.
