I know he's dead.
That doesn't mean I won't watch a movie he is in, whichever tense is is.

We don't agree on this issue. No big deal. But, I can chose to spend my money the way I want to, except for the 50% that goes to taxes. I chose to deny myself the pleasure of putting any of my dough into certain pockets. This is not limited to film or music, Disney, A&F, Calvin Klein Budweiser and others are on the list because of either distasteful advertising or public support for things like gay-pride activities and parades. There is nothing that those on my list provide that I can't do without.

Are you implying everyone in the Catholic Church deserves to be bashed?

If I refrained from watching actors or reading books by authors that conflicted in any way with my political philosophy, there would be very little (if any) shows, movies or books that I would watch or read....
Try it and see how little you miss.

Silliness indeed. You miss a lot of good movies. Watching a movie is not a vote. Thank you. I do avoid Alec Baldwin, 'cause he's just annoying and I don't think he has any talent. But I like to be entertained, and some people are just darned funny and darned good actors/entertainers.
If I gave up everything in my life which might possibly have some liberal involved with its making, I'd have a very small world indeed...

Anything with Patrick Swayze in it makes me want to hurl.Red Dawn was a great movie...

I don't boycot any but the most offensive like Alec Baldwin, Barbra Streisand, Hanoi Jane, and now Danny Glover. I just find it hard to separate their idiocy from thier work. As for others that I find "second tier offensive", I try to stay away from their stuff but if something I really want to see I'll see it. As for musicians, I don't boycot any of them (except Streisand). I'm not sure why they don't bother me as much, maybe I'm just a hypocrite who loves music too much!!

Is Nathan Lane nasty?
He's homosexual, and that's enough for some people.

Does this mean its ok to post my "Chicks I'd Like To Nail" list? Only if you want to nail them because of their political affiliation, apparently...

Mr. Spectre absolutely refuses to watch or be in the company of those who watch ANY movie that casts Jane Fonda or Barbra Streisand... I think I feel my first vanity post coming on...
True story: Once, at a local video store, they'd just started showing "Barbarella" on the video screen. I'd never seen the film, and only saw an astronaut walking in space, then going back to the spaceship. Once inside, the camera zooms in real close on the helmet, which is all silvery. The silver sloooooowly recedes to the bottom, showing Fonda's face through the now-transparent glass. I finally recognized her about two-thirds of the way down, but still didn't know what movie it was. The second the silver was all gone, I blurted out, loud enough that everyone in the place could hear me, "Hey! Jane Fonda's head in a jar! I like this movie already!"
And you know what? Nobody in the place got upset. Pretty crowded store, too. Everybody laughed. Then the opening credits started running, and I felt like a dipstick for not being able to guess what movie it was.
I think about that incident now and then. Especially when some two-bit, blow-dried, impossibly good-looking freak drools words of "sincere concern" and implies that we, the little people, ought to respect those words based on our respect for said freak. That just ain't the truth. Of course, you freepers already know that. :)

I agree with you 100%! I wouldn't go to or rent any movie if they paid me. This is especially true of any movie featuring America-hating poofs dressed in the uniform of US servicemen. The recent spate of "patriotic" garbage only sells because Americans respect the uniform. If they only took the time to read the opinions of their "heroes", they might join us in the boycott.

if Martin Sheen appears in an apolitical film that gets universally good reviews, why say "I won't see that" because of his political slant, when it has absolutely nothing to do with the movie he's in? It does matter, because the more money you pay to see them gives the appearance of agreement to them. Thus encouraging the actor to continue to spout off. By avoidance of their performances, the impression is given of disapproval to the views the actors express.

If I gave up everything in my life which might possibly have some liberal involved with its making, I'd have a very small world indeed... Well put. Politics is something people disagree about. Win hearts and minds through reason about the issues. Silly boycotting is a waste of time and energy. I don't want to keep track of the political correctness of my soup, toilet paper, music or movie actor.

By avoidance of their performances, the impression is given of disapproval to the views the actors express. You really think they are going to notice your absence at a blockbuster movie, and know it is because of a rally they attended two years ago? Get real.

Is Nathan Lane nasty? You apparently missed his appearance as co-host of the 2000 Tony Awards (Rosie O'Donnell other co-host). (which received record-breaking low ratings, BTW!! LOL)
Every other ad-lib out of his mouth was a b*tchy put-down of Bush, Guiliani and Republicans. He is one MEAN little queen, and it was hard to tell if he was dyke-ier than Rosie or vice versa.

And what big blockbusters are referring too?

It does matter, because the more money you pay to see them gives the appearance of agreement to them. Thus encouraging the actor to continue to spout off. By avoidance of their performances, the impression is given of disapproval to the views the actors express. But what if the movie contains both an outspoken liberal actor and an outspoken conservative actor? (Yes, I know, there aren't many, but they do exist)? Does the liberal trump the conservative? More to the point, do you really think anyone involved in Hollywood says, "Wow, Men in Black II isn't making as much money as we'd hoped - people must be staying home because of Lara Flynn Boyle's stance against the Catholic Church!"
As I said, I can certainly see avoiding or even speaking out against films or television series that espouse liberal views. When Tim Robbins writes, directs, and stars in a film told from a blatantly liberal perspective, it makes sense for conservatives not to attend the film. But when Tim Robbins plays a bit part in a film like, say, Mars Attacks!, and conservatives say "Ugh, Tim Robbins is in that movie - I refuse to see it", it just seems reactionary and more than a little silly.
