Movies or shows I won't watch because of who is in them

Posted on 07/19/2002 7:11:34 AM PDT by robjna

As hollywood continues to beleive acting qualifies you as an expert on current affairs, I find myself not being able to patronize their movies. I once heard a quote that it used to be that fame brought celebrity, but now celebrity brings fame. here is my list of hollywood idiots who I cannot bring myself to watch in a movie or anymore. Lets add yours to the list:

Julia Roberts (top of my list, cannot stand the wench)

Richard Dreyfuss

Cammryn Mannhein

Rosie O Donut

Sharon Stone (not for political views, just a horrid actress)

Rob Reiner (anything he is involved in)

Tom Cruise (stero typical hollywood flake)

Nicole Kidman (see Above)

Bill Maher (enough said)

Help me expand my list

An obscure actress , upon recieving an award, stated that in days of yore, actors were considered rogues and vagabonds, and that we should still considered ourselves in that light. she was insightful beyond her years.

Ronald Reagan once said If he was on trial he would prefer a jury of actors because they would be more likely to believe anything is possible.

Halle Barre (sp?) is another story because I've had this longrunning fantasy of me and her in a three way with another girl.

You probably have a fantasy about the crack of dawn.

Hyuk-Hyuk-Hyuk-Hyuk-Hyuk-Hyuk-Hyuk-Hyuk-!!!!

I like John Malcovich in the films I've seen him in. Another suprise (at least to me)possible conservative, at least as far as being pro-life is Kathy Ireland (model, actress, I think). I was pleasantly surprised when I saw her on H&C recently, where she very strongly argued with Alan about being pro-life and being pro-woman. She said that the baby is a baby from conception on.

AC asked her something about she can be for womens' rights, and still be against abortion. She went right on sticking to her point, no matter how Alan tried to argue with her and change her mind. I wish I could remember all she said, but I was very enouraged and impressed with her.

She is a naturally lovely woman - she can stop a clock wearing no makeup and morning hair.

Wouldn't it be more efficient to ask who are the handful of Hollywood celebrities that are socially conservative. These are the few I know:

• The star of "Growing Pains" on pre-marital sex
• Ben Stein on abortion, though not on pre-marital sex

Heather Grahm, of "The Spy Who Loved Me" fame, made a comment to the effect that "Catholics have a dangerous view of sexuality". My guess is that her mother told her that she was ruining her life and that was her reaction. She's about 31 and has gone through 3 celebrity live-ins so far.

Charlton Heston?

One of the tabloids claimed a few years ago that he pushed a member of his family to have an abortion. Anybody know anything about this?

The way I understand to be a social liberal you have to either be a democRat or a socialist. Arnold Schwarzenegger is a Republican, although he admitted he is not a Conservative. There are several types of Republicans, just as there are several types of Democrats

It seems to me that there is a wide social gulf among Republicans (e.g., Pro-Abortion / Pro-Life), and very little difference among Democrates (e.g., almost 100% Pro-Abortion among those high in the ranks)

Charlton Heston said that there are more closeted conservatives in Hollywood

I'm skeptical. Can a person live long in the Hollywood atmosphere and survive? What is Heston's definition of conservatism consist of in addtion to guns?

The biggest problem with entertainment industry nitwits is that someone long ago started referring to them as "artists." To which I say a resounding, "Horse puckey!!" The "talent" that inhabits movies, television, and pop music are just entertainers — vaudevillians of the modern era. Characterizing them as "artists" bestows an elitist stature to them that they most definitely do not deserve, and further pumps up their already over-inflated egos.

I gave up on the entertainment industry when Jane Fonda, that child of wealth and privilege, became a paragon of hypocrisy and a venomous traitor to the applause of most in Tinseltown. Every dollar I make is hard-won and I don't like turning any one of them over to such scum.

It is one thing to be passionate about one's political views and to support candidates and issues of one's choice. That's called freedom and its the American way. It's quite another to use one's privilege and fame seditiously to harm this nation and the people upon whose dollars one has built wealth and fame.

I used to have a similar list but after a year or so of renting every old and new movie I could, I ran out of choices of those I would watch. Then I started watching the ones least offensive to me and I was surprised that I liked the movie in spite of my disgust for the actor. That is, I guess, why those people are in the business they are in, they really can be in a movie and not be as disgusting as they are in real life making political statements or environmental statements or social statements. Some of them are just as disgusting in the movies as they are in real life, Julia Roberts and Barbara Streisand to name two, so that list is still intact. Tom Hanks is not that great an actor and is pretty pathetic with regards to his support of clinton but Private Ryan and a few of his other movies were not too bad. Sometimes you get a real treat from watching one of those on the list getting it in a movie but that is rare. Paul Newman is pretty freaky in real life, but some of his movies are really good. Maybe you'll get tired of your list and find out the same things that I did. When this was first said to me I insisted that I would never but then never doesn't seem to be as long as it once was.
