Movies or shows I won't watch because of who is in them
Posted on 07/19/2002 7:11:34 AM PDT by robjna
As hollywood continues to beleive acting qualifies you as an expert on current affairs, I find myself not being able to patronize their movies. I once heard a quote that it used to be that fame brought celebrity, but now celebrity brings fame. here is my list of hollywood idiots who I cannot bring myself to watch in a movie or anymore. Lets add yours to the list:
Julia Roberts (top of my list, cannot stand the wench)
Richard Dreyfuss
Cammryn Mannhein
Rosie O Donut
Sharon Stone (not for political views, just a horrid actress)
Rob Reiner (anything he is involved in)
Tom Cruise (stero typical hollywood flake)
Nicole Kidman (see Above)
Bill Maher (enough said)
Help me expand my list
An obscure actress , upon recieving an award, stated that in days of yore, actors were considered rogues and vagabonds, and that we should still considered ourselves in that light. she was insightful beyond her years.

Jennifer Aniston (called Bush a "f*ing idiot" in Rolling Stone)
Anyone who starred in an environmentalist-bashing episode of
South Park can't be all bad.

By defintion, in order that you may get jobs in Hollywood, you must be a leftist, and homosexual sympathizer, or at least talk this way! Because of this essential requirement, we will have zero actors to watch!

Anything with Patrick Swayze in it makes me want to hurl.
Actually, parts of
Roadhouse are the best training film for bouncers I've ever seen.

Chris Rock is on my list too. He's only got one joke nowadays, "Hey! Lookit me! I'm black!" Yes, you are, and so are millions of people *with* social skills. Thanks for playing.
No one destroys the "society owes me because I'm black" subculture as brutally as Chris does.

I added Harrison Ford to my list when I learned about his "environmental" crusade against industry. He apparently flies his own helicopter around to "turn bad guys" in. I never support the Hollywood-Government tag team.
I maintain my own list of people I refuse to see, and I know there are many others, but none are floating to the top of my cabasa.

You make a strong case, it is just that I am increasingly concerned about the ability of growing numbers of Americans to understand reason. As Ann Coulter describes in her new book, it can be very difficult to have a intelligent discussion with a liberal.

Great point!! By someone refusing to go to movies because of some political view an actor has is only closing their world more. It is beyond me how people are so closed minded that they keep cutting themselves off from living and experiencing what life has to offer. They are only hurting themselves....and are letting COMPLETE strangers control their life. There was a guy on here who said he hasn't gone to the movies since the sixties. Who is he really hurting? I doubt the actors. He's hurting himself by generalizing life in a way that he says to himself, "I refuse to see anything positive in this situation".
My big gripe with liberals is that they are negative and constant complainers...but that is also true with some ultra-conservatives. Generalizing is done on both sides....and by having the negative attitude about life is only hurting oneself....for to be a bitter human being robs someone of seeing the joys life has to offer.
There are rotten movies out there for sure...but there are also movies that are positively impactful and can benefit us. By saying we won't see a movie because "so and so" is in it, is ludicrous.

Rosie O'Donnel isn't a draw for me either, she's obnoxious.
As for Baldwin, I liked him in Hunt for Red October.
I am talking about the silliness of missing good work done by good actors who you would like, but for their politics.
I have always liked Richard Driefuss's work, and most of Tom Cruise's work. One person actually said they had stopped liking Arnold S because he isn't far right enough! Jeesh... fine for you, but I don't want to live that way.
I don't listen to political speeches given by actors, because I don't automatically care what they have to say. I can like their movie, and have zero interest in what they do for fun. I don't want to keep a database. It's whacked. I have friends that are liberal for crying out loud. It is disagreement over how to handle an issue, not good versus evil.

I'm actually surprised he never ran for Governor of NC. He'd have been a solid candidate.

I usually check my politics at the door when it comes to entertainment. Paul McCartney is a huge PETA suppoter, but I still go to his shows and buy his CDs. Why? I love the man's music. If I boycotted every liberal actor, actress, sportsstar, and musician, I'd be stuck at home watching Benny Hinn.

Arnold Schwarzenegger just made my list after finding out he's a social liberal I guess that leaves Mel Gibson movies. 98% of actors are to the left of Arnold.

I thought it hillarious that Affleck worked oh, so hard in "Get Out The Vote" campaigns to register voters for the Dums, yet even though he's registered to vote in TWO STATES, he somehow found himself too preoccupied that Tuesday to practice what he'd preached.
TWO STATES with his name on voter rolls...GOOSE EGG! DIDN'T SHOW UP!
