Vanity: My Dog always gets upset when we see Arabs/Muslims; Islamophobic dog or owner?
July 15, 2002 | me

I own a 5 year old Siberian Husky. She doesn't come into much contact with Muslims where we live, but when I take her for walks in the city we sometimes come across Arabs/Muslims, they're usually pretty distinguishable the way they look and dress.

Whenever we come across one, her tail straightens out, her fur stands on end, and she goes into "attack mode" similar to what she does when she sees a bunny or a cat. She'll usually keep looking at them till we pass.

I say it's because I have a smart dog, but my wife says it's because my dog can sense my own reaction. The people at my Church say it's sensing my reaction, and the people at my work say smart dog. So it's a tie. I bet my wife a massage, we're letting Freepers break the tie.

Sounds like your dog is part of the "brutal occupation/ world-wide Zionist plot gang." ;)

Dogs are sensitive to humans who are demon-possessed, which Muslims as a rule are. If Satan, rather that a human individual soul, is ruling the body in question an animal such as a dog or cat can tell it and will flee desperately, taking refuge under cars etc and sometimes staying gone for days.

The same is often true of UFO occupants, which some fundamental Christians suggest are also demonic fallen angels.

Our dog has never liked men with caps and beards. We've had her since she was a pup, and had her in for "visits" even before she was weaned. We don't know what happened, but I suspect whenever it did, the "perp" had a beard and wore a cap. She will calm down after it's entirely clear that the bearded/covered one is not a threat and that we accept him, but it takes a while, during which time she's ususally sulking and growling/muttering softly in her throat.

Dogs are fine judges of character. 'Nuff said.

---->Good way to put it and some dogs are a lot better than others. Some breeds are better.

A dog that's trained to be even more sensitive is a valuable ally. The IDF is using dogs for new tasks. Sniffing out suicide bombers.

Agreed. When it comes to who are friends or enemies, dogs know more than we do.

When I was a kid, we adopted a beautiful golden retriever (oddly, named 'Rusty') that had been abused badly, and actually had most of his nose (snout, whatever) severed by a machette - it healed, but left a hell of a scar, both physically and emotionally. He really really really disliked adult males... he was my constant companion, though, and he was a hell of a dog... :0)

Your dog not liking muslims, could be the same reason a lot of dogs don't like uniforms ie police or postmen, even if they have no reason.

I go with those who think that the dog is cueing on the hostility of the Muslims. Arabs don't like dogs and dogs can sense when they are disliked/feared.

Cats do it too.

If someone comes do my home for the first time, I always watch to see how the cats react. If they pass the cat test, I trust them. If they don't, I won't.

I offer only the corrolary to the possible observation that Huskies and Arabs/Moslems don't mix well the additional point that dogsledding is virtually unknown as a practice in most of the Arab world.

On a personal note, the single worst behavioural canine problem I've ever seen firsthand was that of a Saudi owner of an Akita that absolutely refused to work to his owner's voice commands. I'd thought at first it was just a question of accent or inflection; it wasn't. My best estimate is that something in the diet [pork? peppers?] was causing a body chemistry reaction distracting to the dog, close enough to your observed condition to be worth mention.

But until they begin holding the Iditarod in the Libyan Western Desert, I'll not worry too much about it.

Hating dogs is yet another unattractive aspect of Muslim culture. Any culture that hates Man's Best Friend is beneath contempt. The dog "reads" that hate, and reacts appropriately.

Good doggie! Here's a biscuit!

Well, you have a Husky so I don't subscribe to the subliminal communication thing. She is making up her own mind as Huskies do. Respect and honour your dog's instincts. I used to jog early in the am, and I thought my Malamute was being a stupid hard-headed dog one dark morning.(a reasonable assumption). Turns out there was a mugger hidden in the underbrush. You are of course in charge, but listen to your dog.

regards
