He was burned years ago while he was making a Pepsi commercial, I wonder if he was injured more severely than was reported? As for everthing else, there is no rational explanation.

Excellent theory, except that Michael was burned on the top of his head, so it doesn't account for his weird face. You really need to see him up close and smiling to see that there is something so very very wrong. I think he has some nerve damage and perhaps whatever they used to make him white was some sort of caustic acid.
