At night time they do have a presentation about the 4 presidents and at the end everyone sings the Star Spangled Banner while the monument is slowly lit. After that the ranger invites any veterns in the audience to come down to the stage to retire the colors. It's a very moving ceremony. It's a beautiful part of the country, too, with so much history. I bet the homeschoolers out there would get so much out of a trip to the Black Hills.
P.S. the pot roast in the dining room is fantastic ;-)
