Yikes is right on the valve job! The reason the heart thing gives me MUCH pause is that a cousin of mine died in 1995 because she had had a valve replacement done in Nov. of 94 and went into a coma from which she only awakened for a couple of weeks, then slipped back in and died. Turns out, when they opened her up, her heart was severely damamged and no one had ever discovered it! She was on a transplant list, but never got well enough for it, then died. She was only 6 months older than I, so here I am 7 yrs. later, ahem, several pounds heavier, and wondering if there is some hidden damage to MY heart! Her Doc seemed to think she might have had an undetected case of rheumatic fever. Odd thing was, she was NEVER sick, but her brother DID have a case of RF! What bothers me is that MY brother also had RF when he was about 12 and I was 9.
I did have an echocardiogram back in 1996 when I had a different episode of this. I'm scheduled for another the third week of July. Then I have an appt. with the Cardio guy in Aug.
So I will keep your friend in my prayers; surgery is never a casual thing!

You'll be in my prayers tonight too. You must be stressed!

LOL - a few years ago, I attempted the deviled eggs - and cut the girth!
The flavor and taste was great, but goodness, would they not stand upright in Mrs. lodwick's platter. Thanks for the reminder, in case any dh's are doing the eggs for the 4th.

Thanks for the prayers and the info.
Family history is so important in health matters. My friend's dad keeled over at age 57, and his grandson was diagnosed at birth, 26 years ago, with the same valve problem as his dad now has.
May the Great Physician be the attending physician. JL

Honey, I'm not going to complain about anything for the rest of the year. You've got a load on your shoulders. Why did we never know this? I'll pray for your heart and I'm asking my friend to add you to her substantial prayer chain. (That's some powerful stuff!).

I thought it was Tom who dumped Nicole and she allegedly didn't know why - never saw it coming.
Where is Codebreaker?

Thanks, Timeout and Aggie Mama for your prayers ( and those of the Prayer Chain, it is indeed powerful stuff). Actually I'm trying NOT to stress about it. It is what it is, and I'll do what the Docs say. I'm not one to say "Nah, I won't bother going to the Doc" when it is something like this. I won't even let my occasional bronchitis go for long anymore. Hey we got the Docs there, USE them! I don't go for headaches, light head colds etc., but I've lived in this body long enough to know when something is definitely NOT right!
I'm putting it in the Lord's hands, but doing what I should be doing to get better, too! After all, He didn't give us common sense for nuthin!

I thought it was Tom who dumped Nicole and she allegedly didn't know why - never saw it coming. Could be. Maybe she didn't know how strongly HE believed in the Scientology stuff. And then maybe that was a smoke screen for him so he could get free to run around. Who knows?

I think you're correct that Tom's filing for divorce was kind of sudden, but I do recall reading that Nicole, as a Catholic, did have problems with that cult to which he belongs. Maybe that was just one of the contributing factors.
An elderly couple is enjoying an anniversary dinner together in a small tavern. The husband leans over and asks his wife, "Do you remember the first time we had sex together over fifty years ago? We went behind this tavern where you leaned against the fence and I made love to you."
"Yes," she says, "I remember it well."
"OK," he says, "How about taking a stroll 'round there again and we can do it for old time's sake."
"Oooooooh, you devil, that sounds like a good idea," she answers.
There's a police officer sitting in the next booth listening to all this, and having a chuckle to himself. He thinks, "I've got to see this...two old-timers having sex against a fence. I'll just keep an eye on them so's there's no trouble."
So he follows them. They walk haltingly along, leaning on each other for support, aided by walking sticks.
Finally they get to the back of the tavern and make their way to the fence. The old lady lifts her skirt, takes her thong off and the old man drops his trousers. She turns around and as she hangs on to the fence, the old man moves in.
Suddenly they erupt into the most furious sex that the watching policeman has ever seen. They are bucking and jumping like eighteen-year-olds. This goes on for about forty minutes! She's yelling, "Ohhhh, God!" He's hanging on to her hips for dear life. This is the most athletic sex imaginable.
Finally, they both collapse panting on the ground. The policeman is amazed. He thinks he has learned something about life that he didn't know. He starts to think about his own aged parents and wonders whether they still have sex like this.
After about half an hour of lying on the ground recovering, the old couple struggle to their feet and put their clothes back on. The policeman, still watching, thinks "That was truly amazing! He was going like a train. I've got to ask him what his secret is."
As the couple passes, he says to them "That was something else! You must have been having sex for about forty minutes. How do you manage it? You must have had a fantastic life together. Is there some sort of secret?"
"No, there's no secret," the old man says, "except that fifty years ago that damn fence wasn't electric".
........
Hope that one didn't offend anyone- I don't think it did.

Hello everyone. Well as you can see I made it back in one piece. I told the 13 year old she had to ride in the front to help me with directions. So all went well there.
I still haven't resolved my problems with my insurance company over the surgery I had in October, Geesh!
LibertyGirl77, all, I had to go to Innova Fairfax to get medical records etc. all and everything I need to finish with the insurance folks.
LibertyGirl77, I know what you mean about a near death experience on our highways. I had one of those in San Diego, Interstate 5 a few years ago. A dummy ran a red light and crashed me and my little sport car. Thank the Lord I am here today to freep with all of you. I'm glad you're here too, LibertyGirl77.

Update, of sorts:
Don't call Tom Cruise's kids The Outsiders the pair he parents with ex-wife Nicole Kidman will be staying put inside the United States, a spokesman for the leading man told Foxnews.com Tuesday.
"These children are in Los Angeles, they are being raised in Los Angeles," Cruise's spokesman Allen Eichhorn said. "There's no plans for these children to be raised outside the United States."
Cruise is adamantly rejecting reports from a British newspaper that the all-American movie star said his children will be making All the Right Moves by moving out of America. Fox News

That was a fascinating scholarly examination of the history of the hamburger, and very appropriate to our topic du jour. Merci.

Can someone explain to me why Carol McKinley (I think that's her last name) on Fox News (Salt Lake City), can't get her hair done? She's an attractive woman and seems bright and intelligent, but I swear, she desperately needs a hair savior. Carol, please, get a cut.

Where is Codebreaker? He's been banned for some incidents on another thread.
While we are on the topic of Fox News correspondents hair, what is with Rita Cosby's hair? I want to give her a make over, too. She is a cute woman and seems to be really upbeat, but her hair always looks goofy to me. She could look so much nicer. I don't like what Patty Anne Brown has been doing with her hair either. She had total bed head the other day. Her bangs were pushed off to the side and the ends were all flipped out. I think she is just beautiful, but she needs a new hair dresser.
Boy, I guess I had alot of bottled up frustration at the women of Fox News and thier hair. That's it, if I lose my job I'm going back to school to be a hair dresser.

Well fantastic RK - something good has come out of the Fox News Bad Hair division -- a new career for you! Absolutely fantastic.
I admire people who can do good hair. I could never have been a hairdresser - you have to have the ability to see things spatially. The good Lord did NOT give me that ability. I used to steer clear of all the dog ear trims because some poor Great Dane would end up with Schnauzer ear's by the time I got done with him.
Soon as you're ready, we're sending you to Fox News, honey.
