The Guild 7-01-2002 Spotty's White House Tour
The White House ^ | 7-01-2002

Posted on 07/01/2002 6:00:58 AM PDT by BigWaveBetty

Hello, I'm Spotty, the President's English
Springer Spaniel. (I'm the spotted dog in the picture with Laura Bush
and my pal, Barney, the Scottish Terrier.)

I love this house and thought you would enjoy a tour…from a dog's point of view. I've heard there are many different names for this house. Some call it the "People's House" while others call it the "White House."

The White House is larger than any dog house I've ever seen, that's for sure. There are six floors, 132 rooms, 35 bathrooms, 147 windows, 412 doors, 12 chimneys, 8 staircases, and 3 elevators. As you can see, it's easy to lose your tennis ball in this place. My favorite room is the chief usher's office. I love to sleep on the floor next to his desk.

Vermeil Room

This is the Vermeil Room. I like to call this room the "Fur may" Room, but the correct pronunciation is "vur-may." I heard the curator say that vermeil objects are silver pieces that have been dipped in gold. Wow! Maybe I can get a vermeil dog tag one day. Several portraits of First Ladies hang on the walls in this room.

Library

The White House Library is a great room to do something really exciting…read! The curator told me that the books in this room are all by American authors. Maybe one day I can put my favorite book, Hank the Cowdog, on the shelf in here. First Lady Abigail Fillmore (1850-53) asked Congress to buy books for the White House. The American Booksellers Association began to add to the collection in the 1930s. Today, many of these books are on display in the library. My owner, First Lady Laura Bush, loves books. She was a public school librarian and a teacher, and she still enjoys sharing the joy of reading with children.

Are you stuck inside today with the kids because it's too hot? Raining? Spend a few minutes with the kids and take Spotty's tour of The White House!
It's fun and the kids won't even know they're learning!

BE does look expensive at first, but you just don't run out of the stuff. The only thing I have ever had to refill is the foundations. Once you invest in the brushes, you are all set. Your wife will be thrilled with it. I don't know one BE gal who will ever go back to liquid foundation.

I have green eyes and red hair and I wear Bisque and Java daily. It's a good natural look. Is Green Tea the color that Betty recommended? I liked it as a smoky green. I think it would really bring out the green in your hazel eyes. What other shade did you get?

I got the special value for $39, the compact brush alone is sold for $30 in the boutiques. I also got the big Glee with brush, I use it as a blush and am just crazy about it, and the big tub of Bisque. It's a fantastic concealer and also came with a special brush. I think I did very well, especially when you realize how long it all lasts. I am still working on the shadows that I bought 4 years ago and the only thing I have put a dent in is my bisque because it's so multi-purpose.

I recommend Bare Minerals in medium to cover her uneven complexion and for complete coverage. With her obvious sun damage her skin is screaming for an SPF. I would also recommend the Tulip blush, Warmth and mineral veil for that soft focus look. Java or Drama for eyeliner, Bisque and Green tea for shadow, medium blond eyebrow color, Very Berry lipstick and waterproof L'Oreal Lash Architect. This woman needs HELP!

That man-dress reminds me of that Albert Brooks movie, "Defending Your Life". "You look great in that tupa. Not everyone can pull it off, but it looks really flattering on you."

Of course I can give you a makeover. Guilders are known for their beauty. We are all gorgeous, but a little enhancing never hurts.

By the way, I am in a blackout again. How wonderful. We have a heat index right now of 103. If you don't hear from me tomorrow, I cooked overnight.

Looks like the Jesus look is back. What is he wearing on his feet, Jerusalem Cruisers or Nazereth Navigators?

Your power bill will certainly be small next month. They bill on usage don't they?

Is it safe to open your windows?

It was unbearable here today, it's cooled down some tonite w/a decent breeze. I had to drag the hoses around tonite to water some flowers that are not well established.

Um, someone forgot to tell him that just because it's a 3-piece ensemble doesn't mean you're supposed to wear them all at the same time.
