In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

My apologies if someone has already posted this - i just saw it and thought it FOFL funny!!!!
That sounds like an idea worth trying.
Have you seen this thread yet? It's one of JimRob's. I just scanned it, but haven't seen anyone from here on it yet. It's right here.
Funny how none of the coquettes have commented on how considerate we are.
I used to go to the Toe Blake Tav (tavern) in Montreal on occasion. A BIG tav, but it closed ages ago.
Women aren't allowed in taverns in Quebec. Taverns served beer (draft and bottled, including those great large bottles we called quarts) and cider and non-alcoholic drinks, and most had good, cheap greasy-spoon style food. (I used to love their pickled tongue with crackers). They were great places to go with the guys and watch sports and be away from women. In the 70's, to get with the times, the Quebec gummint passed a law saying all taverns had to convert to brasseries (taverns where men and women are allowed, a little classier and more expensive than taverns), but they needed to install women's facilities before they converted. Then they cleverly didn't put a time limit into the law about when women's washrooms were to be installed. But it made economic sense to change. (I thought they should have allowed women-only taverns, but nobody listened to me). There are only two old-fashioned men-only taverns left in Montreal, and one's so filthy I wouldn't go there.
Why thank you xs. How are you today? You've been unusually quiet.
With an electric mixer, beat together the sugar, butter, eggs, and vanilla until blended, scrape bowl often. Then beat on high speed for 5 minutes, scraping bowl occasionally. Mix together the flour and baking powder. In a separate bowl, combine the milk and rum. Add liquids and flour alternately to batter, blending well after each addition. Gently stir in pineapple and coconut. Pour batter into prepared pan. Bake in a 350-degree oven in 6-cup bundt pan until cake begins to pull from pan sides and a wooden pick inserted comes out clean, about 45 to 50 minutes. Pour 1/4 cup rum over cake while still warm and seal quickly to prevent evaporation. Cool in pan on rack for 20 minutes, then turn out, invert and let cool completely right side up. Recipe makes 3 breads.
