Ike didn't capitulate. he tossed them some lagniappe. Every president does it for party political reasons. That does not make it less odious. They didn't have enough power to force a capitulation on any major issue.

So what you just called "a shameful and cowardly act" was really just a little game of beanbag to make the party Nazis smile? Eisenhower had his faults--but less than most men--and I do not believe that he participated in "shameful and cowardly acts." And to say that inserting "Under God" in our pledge was shameful and cowardly is still nonsense.
