Seattle Times - Tacoma man tortured, raped child, say prosecutors
TACOMA A 24-year-old Tacoma man charged with child pornography also raped, molested and tortured a 5-year-old boy he baby-sat, Pierce County prosecutors say. And they say his list of victims may not end there.
Neil Grenning was charged in March with first-degree child rape and in April with 20 felony counts of possessing child porn. On Thursday, prosecutors added another 42 counts: 16 counts of child rape, 22 counts of sexual exploitation of a minor, three counts of child molestation and one count of second-degree assault of a child with sexual motivation. The new child-rape charges superseded the original one filed in March.
Prosecutors say the bulk of the evidence against Grenning consists of tens of thousands of images found on his computer.
Grenning, a waiter and photographer who graduated from Pacific Lutheran University, was arrested after the boy's mother reported that Grenning had taken nude photos of him.
He pleaded not guilty to the new charges Thursday and is being held at the county jail in lieu of $5 million cash bail. He has no criminal record.
