I couldn't agree more. Well put.

I do understand that leaving up profanity or racist posts leads some avenue for critics to of the forum to cite them as authorized, so their deletion is understandable.

What I really object to is the deletion of posts or threads for political or ideological reasons.

Or most offensive of all are the deletions for no obvious reason, and if you question the deletion, the "we might have to ban you" response from the almighty moderators on high.

FR considers itself a news forum. All this opinion stuff disguised as news is pretty wasteful. As a moderator myself, I can usually spot a bad thread in the first three replies. If I had the hammer, I'd sock them down to Chat so they get off the news forum. People could still talk about it without tying up resources. This thread is a classic example. Why is this news?

Agreed. That's why I liked the original rules: three simple ones. Kind of like the Constitution -- people say it is sacred, but they ignore it at will and add a bunch of unnecessary crap that clouds the issue. Nice to converse with you again, by the way. Cheers!
