FR considers itself a news forum. All this opinion stuff disguised as news is pretty wasteful. As a moderator myself, I can usually spot a bad thread in the first three replies. If I had the hammer, I'd sock them down to Chat so they get off the news forum. People could still talk about it without tying up resources. This thread is a classic example. Why is this news?

Personally, I'm sorry that there are separate forums for things now ... you never know what you're missing.

I enjoy being informed, here at the office, on breaking news that I otherwise would miss. I thoroughly enjoy participating in the Monty Python/Cheese/Møøse threads because some nonsense breaks the stress of the workday and also lightens up what would otherwise be a strictly hard news debating society.

So, I guess I take the exact opposition position from you on this ... I wish everything was all in one forum still so that I don't miss anything.

This thread is a classic example. Why is this news?

Which goes right to my earlier point about the moderators arbitrarily enforcing rules that exist only in their own heads.
