An Open letter to Jim Robinson: Can the Bush-Bashers

Dear Mr. Robinson,

I have been a loyal member of the Free Republic since before the 2000 election. I have been a Conservative since the early days of Clinton. When I found this site, I thought "Thank God, people who think like me." I have continued to think this until the more recent days. Now, it seems that there are threads left and right bashing our President.

Why? There are things the President has done which I don't agree with but my loyality still lies with him. I am not sure if these "Bush-Bashers" fail to see the reality that with politics comes comprimise or it is something worse. I feel there is a cancer in the Free Republic. Some are eating their own.

I feel that some of these people are members of the dreaded democratic underground disguised as disgruntled conservatives. They are only here to stir up trouble. What's worse, they are doing just that. I am not sure what I think you should do.

As a conservative, I believe in our moral code but I also realize the reality of politics. I back our President but if he were doing something unsavory (like lying under oath,) I could not support him. This is unlike the left's clintonista dogma. What President Bush is doing is not betraying the conservative cause. He is using politics to confound the left. Those who do not understand this are either leftists themself or unable to separate themselves from their zealousness.

This is your show. You choose who gets to be a member and who does not. Those who break your rules are banished from the kingdom. I am not discouraging free speech, but this is free speech in your forum. These Bush-Bashers are brining us down. When this infighting happened in 1992, Bill Clinton got elected. let's not let that happen again.

Yours,

Big Guy and Rusty 99

Your profile page states that you are pro 1st Amendment. I don't understand how you can reconcile that fact with this post.

Gee, you can't beat our arguments, so you want to shut us up. Good plan.

90% of the so-called "Bush-bashing" is pointing out, how Bush says one thing and does another. The other 10% is pointing out the inaction by Bush on things he ought to be doing. As one, who criticizes Bush, I want him to do, what he said he was going to do. It's good for America, it's good for the GOP, it's good for Bush's re-election.

The mystery is why he's doing the things he is. There's no rhyme or reason to it. There's no "political necessity" to it. The total lack of decent reasons, for what he's doing is a big part in what's driving people here nuts.

Why did Bush come out for a Palestinian State after 9/11 and reward terrorism? Why is Bush saving Arafat's butt for 8 month or longer? It's against the Bush Doctrine. It doesn't make any sense.

We need to expose these bashers for who they are and the Agendas they have!

My agenda is freedom and more specificly the 2nd Amendment.

What? Did you read my post yesterday. I asked if the Bush bashers wanted us to leave and take our donations? It was a question since we were being called names and the bashing got totally out of hand. Between being called a DemocRAT because I didn't support Rush and getting a Heil Hitler I was in no mood for a thread about Bush supporters.

I will go one on one with anyone with facts but I don't like being called names. And the lies I have seen posted like on here tonight about what Pres Bush said in his speech -- That's why I posted his speech.

I don't want someone banned for disagreeing with the President -- I do that on occasion myself. What I wanted stopped and I believe these people do too is the personal bashing that is going on -- Reagan Man got called some nasty names on a thread tonight -- I believe name calling directly at a person is wrong!

Personally you can debate with anyone but when you reach a personal attack level, it is time for you to leave IMHO! And if you cannot back up your statements with facts, then you shouldn't be posting unless you expressly say it is your opinion.

Bush bashers are already quite emasculated, and fully contained. What we have now is a suggestion for overkill, which might degrade the energy of the forum. If everyone on this forum loved Bush, it might become quite boring, and lifeless. Debate is good. The key is to cull out those that engage in ad hominen attacks, or just post stuff totaly devoid of any substantive or factual content with the sole purpose to annoy.

people who have a bias against the President and do not use facts but just bash. (almost like a liberal)

Sorry, but facts are that President Bush is not acting on his conservatism.

We have an empty suit for a president.

And you wonder why many think you folks are DU plants. I have seen every liberal epithet more on this forum lately including "shrub", "chimp", and now "empty suit" than I see anywhere else. If you are "conservatives" at least come up with your own pet names.

*Sigh* I can't believe you have it broken down into percentages. And, of course, that is YOUR opinion of what he is doing.

Well, I have one for you: 90 plus percent of conservatives approve of the way George W. Bush is conducting himself as the president of the United States.
