AMERICA - The Right Way!! (Day 499) [Remember the Trade Center!!]
Various News Sources and FReepers | June 4, 2002 | All of Us

Posted on 06/04/2002 4:58:35 AM PDT by Chairman_December_19th_Society

We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!

Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our freedom, die in vain!!

Sorry for the lateness of the thread this morning. For awhile, FR did not seem it wanted to allow posting of articles to "General Interest."

The New York Times is at it again, trying to take down the President a notch or two. They ran a story saying Egypt's President Mubarrak told the United States that Al Qa'eda "was in the advance stages of executing a significant operation against an American target," leaving the insinuation the President knew enough about 9/11 to prevent it.

China's President Zemin will try and meet with the leaders of both India and Pakistan at the upcoming Asian Summit in an attempt to defuse the crisis in the region.

For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I applaud the courage of your aunt and uncle in choosing to raise their Downs syndrome child. I know what a challenge it can be. Mr. ML and I worked as house-parents for five years in a group home for developmentally disabled adolescents. Several of the residents had Downs, some were autistic, some were only mildly affected.

All of the Downs kids had come to the home from instituions, where they had lived almost since birth. The attention they had received there was scant, and it showed. With the proper kind of care and attention, these kids progressed to the point where they were able to work at a "sheltered" industry, keep up an active social life including bowling, swimming, dances, parties, and church; and were quite capable of maintaining their personal hygiene as well as sharing the housework, etc. This was 20 years ago; I'm sure things now have advanced to the point where parents are able to provide training and supervision themselves. But 50 years ago...........unheard of!!! What a brave thing to do. Of course, to them, it was probably a choice made of love, not courage.:)

The Washington, DC, region has an advisory out for possible severe weather today (it has been a very busy storm season this year).

I am at the office, so I don't have access to NEXRAD III data.

Nevertheless, the web-based NEXRAD view shows a thin line along the eastern downslope of the Blue Ridge that may be an indication of cooler, drier air invading the tropical air mass over the region. This line may be vertical moisture movement (can't tell without VIL data - which I don't have access to at the office).

NY...consider yourself added to the prayer list. I'm just going to keep praying all day, everday for everyone I know and love. Which, of course, would include all of you.

I live in Maryland near Baltimore. But my father was born in East Tennessee. His family still lives there and in North Carolina. i have two cousins who live in Florida. You might say I'm as Southern as that. My neice in the Air Force is stationed in Georgia and her younger sister was born in South Carolina. Are you originally from Florida?

Yeah, I know....I have allergies too, today. :-) I wrote this in their book that I am keeping for them, along with a picture of Ryan in his graduation outfit that his parents handed out to everyone.

They never cease to amaze me. God surely blessed us. ;-)

Deej,

That's an incredible story of faith and courage.

I often have parents tell me that church isn't a big deal to them, and that they'll just let their kids make up their own mind about God when they get older. Unfortunately life isn't that neat and tidy.

Your boys grew exponentialy (sp?) in their faith yesterday.

Thank you for sharing that wonderful tribute.

At a time when the Catholic Church is being assailed by everyone, and in some cases deserved, this story points out just how important our faith, and church, is to us.

Darn...

The way things are going, you'd better just drive around for awhile.

Be careful!

Ah, shoot. We haven't had a good disruptor in some time. I worry I might lose my edge.

Thank you.

Yes... we marveled at their spirit.

Our family went through similar things. I had a twin brother, Jerry who was born with cerebral palsey, who died at the age of 15 in 1971, and an older sister, Susie who died of Tay Sachs at the tender age of 15 in 1968.

Our parents would have never thought of abandoning them, and we as a family are richer for it in regards to our faith.
