Dark Horzizions (Movie news site) is reporting that Natalie Portman will appear on the 'Return of the Jedi-Star Wars Episode VI' Digital Video Disc.

Music Television apparently re-iterated rumours that Natalie Portman (Senator/Queen Padme Amidala) has signed on to be a part of the new scenes being filmed for 'Episode VI-Return of the Jedi'

She will shoot scenes during the production of Episode III ('Rise of the Empire?-ed.) which will then be re-inserted into the Digital Video Disc release of 'Jedi.'

I have the Senate bogged down in procedures.

Sounds like Tom Daschle

Sorry, she looks like a skinny little boy to me----a luscious actress like Jean Simmons in "Spartacus" would have been better.

I don't like what they did with young Anakin Skywalker, either. What a mooning, whiney SAP they made him into: "I've been in agony since I saw you again", blah, blah, blah.....

SNAP OUT OF IT AND ACT LIKE A MAN, ANAKIN!!!!

Yep, my wife and I agreed the actor portrayed Anakin as a petulent self-centered adolescent. Personnaly, I wanted to slap him (shades of Patton).

I'm dreading it when my kids hit their teens .......

Pretty good guesses. The only thing you left out is how Anakin comes to have to wear the Vader life-support suit.

Because he gets all chopped up (started in II). He's mostly machine in the IV, V, and VI.

Why would Palpatine have a mechanical arm? Is there a previous battle he had been in causing him to lose his natural limbs that you believe occurred?

I'm guessing he will, possibly on IMAX screens since they've recently developed a way for 35mm film to be converted into IMAX format. Apollo 13 will be the first film to go through this process and should be re-released sometime this summer.

Somewhere in one of the first books (from years ago--with Lucas listed as the author) Obi Wan talks about how he and Anakin got into a fight on the planet Sith(didn't say why). Anakin fell into a lava pit during the fight. There wasn't much left of Anakin when he crawled out of the lava pit. Apparently the Sith Lords nursed him back to "health", in turn he joined them, etc.

My theory: Obi Wan and Anakin were fighting about nubile nookie, otherwise known as "Padme."

Remember in Empire when Obi Wan said that Yoda was his old teacher? No sign of that in the new series.

Remember in the Clones when Yoda was teaching all of the child Jedi's?

I predict that the Emperor convinces Anakin that the Jedi are to blame

Possible but Anakin was really interested in being the most powerful and Christopher Lee was certainly that.
Here's a twist. The Emperor offers Anakin and even greater prize: the ability to save his mother.

Remember when it was originally titled, 'Revenge of the Jedi' and movie posters were distributed with that name on it! What a fabulous collectors' item that would be!

Portman's face looks very similar to a close friend of my wife's -- including similiar in facial motions. That friend married a commericial artist whose art tends towards science fantasy and which has appeared on covers of Heavy Metal and such.

Conincidence or perhaps there is some proto-Natalie Portman older SF art work that both Lucas and the SF cover artist became infatuated with.

Something like "La Belle Dame Sans Merci", perhaps.

Yoda was obviously the Master of the Jedi Masters. It makes sense that he would instruct them all. All of the Jedis seem to defer to him.

Anakin a petulent, self-absorbed adolescent. I second that. My wife and I couldn't figure out what a major babe like Amidala could see in the brat.

Oh yeah, originally it was to be called 'Revenge of the Jedi', the planet of Ewoks was going to be a planet of Wookies and David Lynch was going to direct it! Instead he did 'DUNE', and Lucas chickened out with the wookies and the revenge bit......real shame.

Why did Qui-Gon and Anakin, upon death, remain corporeal, while Obi-Wan and Yoda vanished? That question was rumored to be answered in Ep2, and obviously wasn't.

It was somewhat answered in AOTC, though not as well as people would have liked.

basic answer... Obi-Wan and Yoda were decidedly Jedi's of the light side of the force...while Qui-Gon is questionable, (note Count Dooku's comment to Obi Wan when they were chatting about the seperatist movement. Obi Wan says that Qui-Gon would never have joined Dooku. Doku's comment: "Don't be so sure about that. Your former master and my former apprentice didn't always agree with the council."

So you have kind of a gray area in there...and because of Anakin's repentence after the battle between Luke and Vader and the emperor, you kind of sense that there is also a bit of a gray area in him as well...
