My good friend Mike ended his life yesterday.
This came as quite a shock as I have known him for almost twenty years and didn't have a clue that he was capable of this.
I don't have many details on why he did it.
I do know that I'll miss him and I would appreciate it if my fellow Freepers would say a prayer for his family tonight.
TOPICS: Daily Prayer; Miscellaneous; Religion
KEYWORDS: prayer; suicide
Part of me is so angry at him I could scream!
He left behind a beautiful daughter, valedictorian of her class, currently studying to be a doctor; and a son who is the same age as my own - very intelligent like his father.

Thanks. It is so hard to understand.
My world is a much sadder place today. Didn't think it was possible post 9-11.

Sorry for your loss, and I'll pray for his family. It's hard to conceive of the reasons people do this.

Hello ,I am so sorry for your loss .I experienced the loss of a friend to a sudden illness that happened so quick during one easter vacation.I didn't hear about her death until a customer called my dispatcher. No one had known why this passenger had not been riding on my van for several weeks ; she had been my passenger every day for at least five years straight .The sadness I felt was so unexpected , and it didn't go away for some time . The same with 9/11.The grief I felt for the world trade center victims hurt so badly . The hurt I felt was so deep , and lasted for weeks .Then suddenly one weekend , my sadness was gone. The Lord bless you and keep you and comfort you ,in prayer for you , Sincerely , voa-davidk , in his purpose , Church of Christ "...for God is love ." - 1jhn 4:8

Mike was recently divorced.
He had a daughter, who was class valedictorian and got a full ride to study to become a doctor. He also had a son the same age as mine. It is very hard to understand.
Mike was brilliant and had a great sense of humor. He was very well read, an expert on every subject. He would have been a great teacher or writer as he could make anything sound interesting (not to mention humorous).
Anyway, it came as a complete shock.
We haven't seen much of him lately and I had no idea he was suffering this way.
Life never ceases to amaze me.

My mom's neighbor did the same thing Sunday afternoon. Very difficult to understand. My prayers go out to Mike's family and to you as you struggle to understand. May the peace of God be with you.

We pray that G-d lifts the pain from all who loved this man.
Sometimes people feel that life is no longer worth living because their pain is so great and they are unable to share their burden.
For now you must know that the anger of those who loved him is natural and will be very deep and very long lived. Bless you for caring so much.......just offer hugs, lots of hugs to his kids.

Silverwoman and I offer our prayers for all of you.

Prayers for your friend's family and all those who were close to him.
Your anger is a natural reaction ..... in fact, you will go through a whole range of emotions .... anger, guilt, grief, frustration, a feeling of helplessness, and many others. Problems arise when people don't work through these conflicting emotions and finally come to a sad acceptance.
Lean on the Lord for He will help you cope, though sadly there won't be answers.
Having lost a family member this way, I know about the devastation of such a loss.
