Had a rocker of a quake down here about an hour ago...5.8 mag., about 50 miles south of where I'm sitting. No reports of damage.

I noticed that there was a 5.2 earthquake last night off the coast of Chile. Hang on to your glassware. Something's trying to break loose.
There's been a cluster of quakes ranging from 4.1 to 5.2 in Indonesia last night, too.... about 5 of them. It's very volcanic there.... It makes sense that if there is strong activity on one edge of a plate - there will be energy rocking the opposite edge (or another weak spot along the edge) in reaction.

It's so weird that I checked out the quake page this morning -- usually I don't do that. I saw the quake on West Chile Rise and started to write a message to you here asking about the quake - then I clicked on it and saw it was way off the coast, so I didn't post it. I was almost prophetic.

The quake today in western Brazil was at almost the same longitude as your quake ... are you cracking up?
