Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers (Movie Spy Reports and Spoilers thread)
TheOneRing.Net (and other places) ^

Posted on 05/19/2002 5:01:59 PM PDT by HairOfTheDog

Beyond this point there be spoilers!

Like spoilers? – Keep reading!

Don't want spoilers? – Click HERE and don't look back!

Don't say we didn't warn you! Spoilers are what this thread is all about. So bring your rumors (substantiated or not!), spoilers, spy reports, and bones of contention about them here as the snippets of TTT news, photos and interviews come rolling in.

I wouldn't even recommend pinging people to this thread unless you know they want to see them. There are a lot of purists out there that hate to have anything given away before the movie comes out. I, however, am not one of those.

I will start a "TTT spoilers ping list" separate from the other Tolkien ping lists… so let me know if you want to be on the spoiler alert list!" If we use this thread for that kind of stuff, we won't shock people who don't want to see it. (though I bet they look anyway!)

Report 'em if you got 'em!

Spoiler alert!

These new pics from The Two Towers were actually posted at TORN yesterday, but their server was so slow I didn't try to post them till some of the load was off... Today I will risk a couple... they are fabulous! (There are also a lot of Extended Version FoTR pics in there - They are all mixed together, so you have to decipher a bit what you are looking at!

Ring of Spears... The Riders of Rohan!

Someone is messin' with my Frodo! - Faramir I would guess! - The nerve!

This shot makes my blood boil!

They are still slower than a snail I see... so here is a link to the rest: (they are a bit like childbirth... slow to load, but worth the wait! (sorry Jen)) Ringer Spy Lutz's Scrapbook

It shouldn't be too late to pre-order it from Amazon if you wanted to get one for someone as a gift ... the orders don't ship till August 6, I think, so if anyone is interested, go to amazon.com and enter FotR DVD and see what the price is for a pre-order.

QUICKIE SPOILER POST! don't want to spend a long time posting cuz I haven't even watched it yet!

Better go get this download from
http://www.warofthering.net/downloads/thetwotowerstrailers.shtml
before it disapears!

They are calling it "The Narrated Trailer from the DVD NEW!"

Split into two parts 1 and 2... it is a behind the scenes look that will go along with the DVD to be released Tuesday... for those that cannot wait! This is different from the clip that was available yesterday.

To download it right click part one and two seperately and "Save target as..."

Correction to the quote/caption above:

"The Ring will not save Gondor... It has only the power to destroy"

Frodo is gonna break my heart isn't he? he looks terrible.

"A fan asked about the Ents storming Isengard and PJ confirmed that we will see this. "Oh yes" he said."

TTT promises to have some great fight scenes...I cannot wait, but I reckon the release of the FoTR DVD will have to tide me over for now.

POSTED today at TORN:
Cinescape Scoop
Jackson talks next two LORD OF THE RINGS
Frodo’s wild ride…

Dateline: Friday, August 2, 2002

By: CHRISTOPHER ALLAN SMITH AND ERIC MORO
By:

While talking recently to CINESCAPE’s own Eric Moro, LORD OF THE RINGS director Peter Jackson teased the dark journey fans of the film trilogy Frodo will be going on in the next two installments, and why he might not even be the hero of the trilogy by the end.

“What basically happens is [the films] become darker and they emotionally go places, which is very interesting,” Jackson said. “As Frodo’s journey with the Ring continues, the Ring starts to affect him more. There’s an interesting dynamic that is going to happen in these films where in the first movie, Frodo is the audience. He’s the Everyman character. In the second film, THE TWO TOWERS, the Ring starts to act on him in a much stronger way. By the third film, Frodo has such a burden to carry and is starting to behave in such a strange way that I think the empathy of the audience will switch to Sam, who is accompanying Frodo on this journey. Frodo becomes so troubled by this Ring that we are now going to be looking at this story through Sam’s eyes by the time THE RETURN OF THE KING comes out, because we can no longer really go there with Frodo because he has his own tortuous journey that he takes on. It will be very interesting to see the three films together because there’s going to be this switch as each film becomes more intense.”

Granted, for those of you who’ve read the books this might not be much of a shock, but for those who haven’t read them, it’s a sweet glimpse.

For more on THE TWO TOWERS and THE RETURN OF THE KING, pick up a copy of CINESCAPE’s SEQUELMANIA at newsstands now.

downloading the DVD trailers now ...

Question: In your opinion is it worth it to get the Platinum DVD ($60) with all the extra stuff now, or better to get just the movie ($20) and wait for the super fantabulous ultimate collection of the entire movie ... in 2 years?

Jeepers I don't even know what the Platinum DVD is! Tell me?

I am buying the regular wide screen version now and will also be buying the Extended version in November. I imagine I will repeat the same behavior next year, though I will probably still feel a bit abused! ;~D

very tasty trailers ...

Platinum Edition DVD has 4 discs, with lots of behind the scenes stuff. I just noticed it is the version to be released in November, duh. I think I am like you, I will get the movie now, and the extended version later. And of course the super extended version in 2004 :-)
