downloading the DVD trailers now ...

Question: In your opinion is it worth it to get the Platinum DVD ($60) with all the extra stuff now, or better to get just the movie ($20) and wait for the super fantabulous ultimate collection of the entire movie ... in 2 years?

Jeepers I don't even know what the Platinum DVD is! Tell me?

I am buying the regular wide screen version now and will also be buying the Extended version in November. I imagine I will repeat the same behavior next year, though I will probably still feel a bit abused! ;~D

Don't see or buy anything until the summer of 2005, when there'll likely be a great sale on the DVDs.

Not.

The question is, how can you stand not to have *both*? Hey, I bought my first DVD player just so I could have and watch this movie! For the first time in my life, I'd actually love to own one of those huge big-screen setups. I'll be buying the extended edition, with the Argonauth bookends. I'll also be getting one of those green leaf brooches, the Middle Earth poster...I'm only upset that there really is so little merchandise. All that Star Wars junk I bought for my kids--I expected some nice stuff for LOTR for *me* and there's really very little. Jackson is dropping the ball on the merchandising. He could make enough on Arwen dolls to finance his production of the Hobbit.
