No free man shall EVER be debarred the use of arms!
Founding Fathers | May 12, 2002 | Jeff Head

Posted on 05/12/2002 12:12:26 PM PDT by Jeff Head

Read carefully the following list of quotes. Most of them were written by men who wrote the Constitution or were involved in its cration and founding.

As you read, compare the thought processes exhibited by these individuals with what you hear from many "politicians" and so-called experts and historians today.

"No free man shall ever be debarred the use of arms. The strongest reason for people to retain their right to keep and bear arms is as a last resort to protect themselves against tyranny in government." - Thomas Jefferson

"Are we at last brought to such humiliating and debasing degradation that we cannot be trusted with arms for our defense? Where is the difference between having our arms in possession and under our direction, and having them under the management of Congress? If our defense be the real object of having those arms, in whose hands can they be trusted with more propriety, or equal safety to us, as in our own hands?"

"Guard with jealous attention the public liberty. Suspect everyone who approaches that jewel. Unfortunately, nothing will preserve it but downright force. Whenever you give up that force, you are inevitably ruined," - Patrick Henry

"Resistance to sudden violence, for the preservation not only of my person, my limbs, and life, but of my property, is an indisputable right of nature which I have never surrendered to the public by the compact of society, and which perhaps, I could not surrender if I would." - John Adams

"That the said Constitution shall never be construed to authorize Congress to infringe the just liberty of the press or the rights of conscience; or to prevent the people of the United States who are peaceable citizens from keeping their own arms." - Samuel Adams

"If ye love wealth better than liberty, the tranquility of servitude better than the animating contest of freedom...go home from us in peace. We ask not your counsels nor arms. May your chains set lightly upon you and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen." - Samuel Adams

"The Bill of Rights stills shines in all of its splendor, but many Americans are looking the other way. Many Americans have drifted back to that old concept of government that our forefathers feared and rejected. Many Americans are now looking to government for security. Many Americans are no longer willing to accept personal responsibility for their own welfare.Yet personal freedom cannot exist without individual responsibility." - Dean Russell

"Any act of the legislature, repugnant to the constitution, is void." - Supreme Court Chief Justice Marshall

"We have no government armed with power capable of contending with human passions unbridled by morality and religion. Avarice, ambition, revenge, or gallantry, would break the strongest cords of our Constitution as a whale goes through a net. Our Constitution was made only for a moral and religious people. It is wholly inadequate for the government of any other." - John Adams

The fact is, we have departed relatively far from the principles articulateded by our founders for preserving what they founded. The further we depart, the more at risk our liberty and way of life. The preservation of our liberty and our Republic is based on four rather straight forward principles, upon which all else must be built IMHO.
  1. Unalienable rights exist and are not derived from man-made institutions. They come from God, or for those unbelievers, we can say they come from natural law. The right to bear arms is one of these rights.

  2. The equitable exercise of unalienable rights is based on societal adoption of fundamnetal moral principle that derives from the same source as the rights themselves.

  3. The adoption of fundamental moral principle, in so far as it relates to any issue that does not infringe on another's rights, must be a free-will choice. It cannot be compelled.

  4. The PEOPLE (individual citizens) MUST REMAIN ARMED.
Our founders understood all of this and articulated it masterfully. Though times and technology have changed, human nature most assuredly has not. Therefore, evey principle espoused above still holds and must be "guarded with jealous attention."

Those who wish to fundamentally change our Republic and abolish our liberties do not want these principles taught or understood. DO not trust anyone who is of such a mind. They are an enemy to all we hold dear.

It is therefore left to us to publish and proclaim them to all who will hear ... and to ALWAYS remain prepared to defend our liberty against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

We all have reason for concern in this regard. Even this administration's language in recognizing the individual right is ... as you say ... worrisome. An "unalienable right" is not open for discussion or precident.

All the more reason to, as Patrick Henry said, "guard with jealous attention" this right and the force is represents against the tyrant of any stripe.

Hi Jeff, here are some thoughts on the right to keep and bear arms by our ideological opposites:

********************************************************************************

"Germans who wish to use firearms should join the SS or the SA: ordinary citizens don't need guns, as their having guns doesn't serve the state." ~~Heinrich Himmler

"If someone is so fearful that they are going to start using their weapons to protect their rights, it makes me very nervous that these people have weapons at all." ~~Henry Waxman

"One of the basic conditions for the victory of socialism is the arming of the workers [read communist party] and the disarming of the bourgeoisie." ~~V.I. Lenin, Collected Works

"I don't think everybody has a right to a weapon which can be used to kill innocent people and maybe threaten the life of a president of the United States." ~~Henry Waxman

"Make mass searches and hold executions for found arms." ~~V.I. Lenin

"We are going to hammer guns on the anvil of relentless legislative strategy! We are going to beat guns into submission!" ~~Chuck Schumer

"If the opposition disarms, well and good. If it refuses to disarm, we shall disarm it ourselves." ~~Stalin, 1927

"If I could have gotten 51 votes in the Senate for an outright ban (on firearms), picking up every one of them, 'Mr. and Mrs. America, turn them in', I would have done that." ~~Senator Diane Feinstein (holder of one of the few concealed pistol permits given only to the very well-connected in California.)

"War can only be abolished through war, and in order to get rid of the gun it is necessary to take up the gun." Mao Zedong

"Every Communist must grasp the truth, 'Political power grows out of the barrel of a gun.' Our principle is that the Party commands the gun and the gun will never be allowed to command the Party." Mao Zedong

The gun grabbers today, the ones really oushing the agenda, understand these thoughts and motivations (of both Mao and the rascals you quoted). It is only a matter of time before they turn to the principles and teachings of their icons. For whom they are the modern understudies.

In the hands of free people ... along with faith in God and an understadning of unalienable rights ... the bain of every tyrant.

Fully agree. Down with Socialism, Communism, Marxism, Fascism and every form of "ism" that seeks to destry Liberty and the unalienable rights of mankind. Victory to all those willing to stand up and grasp and preserve them.

Hope you and yours had a great Mother's Day.

As you read, compare the thought processes exhibited by these individuals with what you hear from many "politicians" and so-called experts and historians today.

I think the founders got it right. The first amendment enumerates some "basic" rights; the second amendment establishes the means by which we may defend those rights; the teeth, if you will.

To the latter day statists/experts, our Constitution and Bill of Rights are a nuisance to be overcome. Gramsciian incrementalism appears to be their M.O. They are hard at work in EVERY institution in our country. We have all been cowed in no small part by a compliant media ready, willing, and very capable of carrying the message.

Whoya gonna call?????

Us. We're it. And there's enough of us to turn it around if we will just stand up. Those enemies know it and are doing all they can to keep us in the dark and unaware of one another's presence ... but there are enough and we are awakening.

Best Fregards.
