Robert Urich died today at age 55. Everyone says the reason he had so many television series is because he was such a great guy that everybody wanted to work with him. He leaves a wife and 3 children.

Now that I think about it. I thought I read somewhere that Wilber, I mean Chelesa's SS protection would end when she got to Oxford. It definitely was supposed to end last summer, last July, I think. No other presidential offspring has gotten SS after the age of 16, I'm sure I've read.
And the 'toon parents are the last ones who will get SS for life. Starting with W, it's only for 10 years after leaving office.

It would be interesting to know just how much we pay for all this "protection." I think we'd all have a cow, if we knew. But I only resent it for the 'toons, somehow. Wonder why?

Hey - and good to see ya. Thanks for bringing the dirt here: all I can do is shake my head in amazement at these dim/lib puds. Do they have people who go out and bring them in from the rain? ;-)

Good afternoon. My take is that if an former first person can afford it, they should hire their own security; and believe me, all these exes enriched themselves to the max while in public "service."
Like the bent ones' sense of entitlement, all this grifting on whatever level angers me mightily. Gotta run for provisions - have fun. JL

Chelsea insults celebrites, says she doesn't know them and walks off in a huff.. (Page Six) I have been searching the NY Post of this article and can't find it. Could you please post it. I am sure it's a great read.

I'll find it, all of her antics kind of blend together after a while!

My take is that if an former first person can afford it, they should hire their own security; and believe me, all these exes enriched themselves to the max while in public "service." So true. I think back to when the 'toons first went to DC, and their assets were listed at right around $1million. (Of course, that wasn't counting what must have been in their Swiss bank acct, the one that Vince Foster was reported to have made regular payments to.) By the time they left office, can you imagine what their bottom line must have looked like? To me, that's above and beyond what's fair use of the office of the presidency.
The Reagans couldn't even buy their own house in LA afterwards, their friends chipped in, if I'm remembering correctly. This decade of greed that chillary complained about so much certainly served the 'toons very well. Most ethical administration in history, my eye!

So far this is the best I could come up with... from NY Post Page Six...
Ronald Perelman and wife Ellen Barkin schmoozed the room while New Yorks newest international celeb, Chelsea Clinton, showed up with her boytoy, Ian Klaus, on her arm and mingled with Sting and Styler, who was downing glasses of Piper Heidsieck champagne.
When a photographer tried to take Clinton and Stylers photo, Styler cried: "Oh! I shouldnt be holding a glass of champagne when Im being photographed with a minor."
Clinton, 21, looked at Styler and declared: "Im not a minor!" before walking away.
"Major attitude," cooed one source who witnessed the interaction.

"I'm not a minor."Soooooooooo, to Chris M. et al criticisms of our Chelsea remarking , we can just answer she's "not a minor" and keep on remarking. LOL (As if we've ever stopped.)
At the moment it's 90- degrees, and I'm having an algore sweat after transplanting potted peonies...also put out my tomato, cucumber, yellow straight neck squash, spring onions, and radishes....future salad stuff.
I also got my first redbug bite. I read somewhere that a dab of nail polish would eliminate it...couldn't find my clear nail polish so now I have a red dot on my stomach! Killed the little booger and the itch.

Hey everyone! This SS protection for Chels is maddening especially right after Tax day. And geez, I don't think I would be as peeved if she was attending classes and not bar hopping. Really, we have to pay to have her and the sweetie driven around to bar hop?!
And surely Blubba and the witch can afford private security. That little toad (can't remember his name!) who did the recent story on Blubba, was nearly giggling with glee about how much money Blubba makes now with his speaking gigs.
The taxpayers have been paying for Chels' up keep since the day she was born, why stop now? barf!

I also got my first redbug bite. Oh those things are horrible! After doing yard work one day I was covered from the top of my shoulders to my waist. There was a vine that grew all over my fence from the lot next door, it was so thick I couldn't cut it, so I got underneath it and pushed it over the fence. I think it took about 3 or 4 bottles of fingernail polish to cover it all. I tried everything before I tried that, nothing worked but the polish. So you did the right thing.
All those vegies sound yummy though, well worth that nasty bite! Think I'll have a salad for dinner.
To: Carolinamom
I'm on a new diet where I don't even have to count veggies, I can have all I want...your garden description made we want some right now!
Here's a GREAT article on Europe's anti-semitism. It's by Mark Steyn, one of my very favorite writers: LINK

Thanks, I couldn't remember where it was..

You're welcome. I was hoping that was the right article. I think the reason that PIAPS never let Chelsea speak was that way people would never know that she is a total brat. Remember in "Unlimited Access" her calling the SS her "trained pigs"? Maybe she has gone from the duckling into the ugly swan, from what I understand swans can be pretty nasty animals.

Hi, all, we're back from Boston. We had a wonderful time. Mr. M ran a pretty good race - good enough to qualify for next year - and we ate to our little tummies' content (oh my gosh, if you like Italian food, you must go to the North End). We got home earlier this afternoon, but our local zillionaire invited us up to his place around 4 p.m. for "cocktails" (an amusing concept, as we don't touch the hard stuff) so we've been busy socializing and now are recovering from socializing. Now that I've cleared out the few dozen junk mails (how did they all simultaneously get the idea I was interested in cures for baldness?), I'm trying to catch up on the freeping.

It sounds like you both had a ton of fun! I can't imagine running a marathon. I can barely get my butt out of bed to do an aerobics tape or stick to a diet for any length of time, so I am just in awe of anyone who can is in marathon shape. Congrats to Mr. Mountaineer!
To: mountaineer
How was the weather? It's roasting hot in Michigan, record breaking temps.
I am so glad you went to the North End. Did you see the North Church and Paul Revere's house? I don't think you could go wrong in any of those italian restaurants. I had a veal there a couple of years ago that I can still taste. Bellisimo!

The forecast for Monday was for very, very warm weather, which would have been awful for running. Fortunately, it stalled over central Mass. and didn't arrive until late afternoon, so the runners had cool, albeit humid, conditions. Patriotism was the theme on this Patriots' Day. Mr. M said it was quite moving when, before the starting gun sounded, a trooper sang the National Anthem and eventually was joined in song by most of the 16,000 runners. While he was out in Hopkinton, I was killing time in Boston and wandered over to the Park St. Church, the burying ground of which is the resting place of Paul Revere, Samuel Adams, Ben Franklin and John Hancock, among others. While I was just standing around trying to decide what to do next, a bagpipe band suddenly showed up, along with drum corps, police, veterans, Jr. ROTC squads, etc., and there was a wreath-laying ceremony at Revere's grave. I got downright teary-eyed.
