Yep, that article you posted dated April 4th, did say Chelsea still has Secret Service protection. YIKES!!! But why??I don't know why, but I sure am tired of paying the freight for the 'toons, I'll tell you that. Wonder if Rep. Istook would give a truthful answer if he was asked. I wonder if it's even worth contacting his office. (Isn't he the one in charge of this spending? I think so, could be wrong.)

Evidently Julia does this every few years and comes back to Lyle..he should know better

I wish I could afford to buy a little something special - we had to write a couple of pretty large checks. *sigh* The perils of underestimating the quarterlies...
I bought myself a little something special last month - a brand spankin' new .45auto. Good thing i did. I wouldn't have been able to afford it this month!

If you ask your Congressman about Chelsea's SS coverage, you will get a runaround along the lines of "We can't divulge who gets coverage because it undermines their security" blah blah blah. Some have been trying to find out about this and that is the stock answer.
It is so infuriating. Especially when the London tabs report that her security drives she and Ian pub hopping in a limousine.
And another thing about Ian that gripes me. He is a Rhodes Scholar who gets $32,000 a year stipend yet he too seems to be stretching his time away from class. Are there no stringent rules that apply to Rhodes scholars. Can they just take their $32,000 and party? Not that $32,000 a year would last those two long. Supposedly their hotel tab in Venice was over $10,.000.

Well, Rep. Istook of OK is the head of some committee, can't remember at the moment which, maybe Appropriations, but remember him? He was the one who was charged with overseeing the amount of money x42 spent on his office in Harlem. I just wonder if complaints were made to his office, what would happen. Or does billyjeff still have so many pals in DC that I'd get audited!
But it's really maddening that we have to foot the bill for these 2 to go gallivanting around the world. Lord knows her parents couldn't possibly be paying for it, could they?

I thought that Chelsea's SS was supposed to end when she left Stanford. I wonder if that wording was that it was to stop when she left ' school'. If school was the wording then that would be why she still has it. As far as I know her security isn't private it's the SS. Remember, they shut down the canals in Venice. I highly doubt that the Italian government would allow a private company to do that.
If anyone has a photo of Chelsea's security, check the left lapel for a small round pin. Private guys would have the ear piece, but they probably wouldn't have the small pin.

I most definitely did read an article that Scotland Yard was "protecting" her when she is in England. However, the article stated that it was unknown who was to protect her when she was outside of England. And the SS did go over to England prior to her arrival to check things out and perhaps transition the English security team.
So maybe we are only paying for her protection when she galavants around (as in Venice) and maybe it is Scotland Yard that drives her to the pubs and things. How is she ever going to learn to drink responsibly when she gets driven around to her haunts?
US magazine has an article on Chels this week and it clearly states that while she was in New York last week, two SS agents were following her around.
Nothing in said article that we did not already know. More fawning about Ian being a great catch and Chels turning from an ugly duckling into a swan.

Chels turning from an ugly duckling into a swan
SOUNDS A BIT GOOSEY TO ME!
I will miss Phylis Diller. I will not miss Whoopi, though I confess I rarely watch Hollywood Squares. Loved the original Squares but hate this new highly scripted version.
Phyllis Diller is shown in this Oct 31, 2000 file photo in Los Angeles, Calif. Diller, the comedian with the outrageous cackle and seemingly endless string of one-liners, gave her last live performance on April 14, 2002, at California State University, Northridge, drawing the curtain on an act that first started in San Francisco in 1955. (AP Photo/Kim D. Johnson, File)

Starting next season, television game show 'Hollywood Squares' will no longer feature actress Whoopi Goldberg in her recurring position in the center square, a spokesman for show distributor King World Productions said April 15, 2002. Goldberg is seen July 30, 2001 at the premiere of her film 'Rat Race' in Los Angeles. (Fred Prouser/Reuters)

Good Morning all. Hope my posting Phylis and Whoopi did not scare everyone off....
To redeem myself, here is a picture that most of you probably saw already but it is just so adorable. That sweet little one all dressed up in her red, white and blue to meet the President and then acting coy when she does. Just precious.
This picture was in my paper this a.m., which is a rare thing, to have a positive picture of W printed.

Hi Miss Daisy, everyone, do we need cheeseburgers to entice you back?

Enjoy.

Now that I think about it. I thought I read somewhere that Wilber, I mean Chelesa's SS protection would end when she got to Oxford. Boy, those Clinton's just keep on lying. Still my question is, "WHY?" Do they think her life still needs protecting? I thought Bill and Hill were loved?

Just a thought about Chelsea's SS protection: Could it be that Bubba has shared some of his SS men with Chelsea? For that matter, does the female senator have SS protection too?
To: Teacup
actually she would make cher look like she had class :p
To: Carolinamom
Yes, Hillary does have SS protection. It's my understanding, ALL first Ladies have SS protection. I worked with the Betty Ford Cnt. and their staff for many years. Mrs Ford had and still has SS men.
Hey all: Did you know Hillary spoke at the pro-Israel rally yesterday. These demorats were there.
* Democrats included House Minority Leader Richard Gephardt of Missouri, Senate Majority Whip Harry Reid of Nevada and Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton of New York. ''We must reaffirm our commitment to Israel's security and right to self-defense,'' Reid said.
Where was Lieberman????

...Chels turning from an ugly duckling into a swan. These people must have some ugly friends to think that she is the proverbial swan.
To: Teacup
You're correct about the SS details continuing for life for the former first ladies - even LadyBirdJohnson still has hers, except all they really are concerned with is the guy with the medical bag, and the chopper pilot to get her to a hospital. (Can you imagine someone plotting against Mrs. Johnson, or Carter, or any of them really - PIAPS excluded?)
It would be interesting to know just how much we pay for all this "protection."
