Me, Myself & I | Today, March 30, 2002 | Hellmouth

What are some of your favorite comedy shows of all time?

For myself, I like Howard Stern's old Channel 9 show, Fawlty Towers, Police Squad, The Young Ones, et al. I'm sure other people have different ideals as to what they consider humorous....

Lunch With Soupy Sales

Oh yeah, I never laughed so hard, but then I was just a young kid. Funny slapstick (cream pie in the face) stuff. I don't know how well that would hold up for an adult, but man, to a kid, that was funny.

I have to agree that this show is one of the greatest. Which was the best character? My pick would be Floyd the barber. It was a shame when he got so sick and had to leave the show.

My favorite of all time? Monty Python's Flying Circus.

The legendary Killer Joke sketch from the first aired episode literally redefined excellence in TV comedy, IMHO. I still laugh out loud thinking about it. :-)

In no particular order:

All in the Family
The Simpsons
I Love Lucy
Greg the Bunny It's a brand new show, and if the rest of the episodes are as funny as the first, it'll be one of my new favorites.
WKRP
The Osbournes (It's actually a real life look at Ozzy's family and life, but watching Ozzy try and solve everyday problems is hysterical)
Frasier

Police Squad, The Young Ones, et al.

Strange, but in my teenage years I loved Monty Python, & later I appreciated the Young Ones. But watching them now, the magic is long gone.

My all time funniest:

My current favorites:

In no particular order: Get Smart - Mel Brooks, Buck Henry. What else can I say? Seinfeld - Michael Richards; Great physical comedy. Great ensemble. Cheers - Great ensemble. Changed chicks and didn't miss a beat. All in the Family - The best; couldn't get on TV today. MASH - Great until it became the show of Saint Hawkeye & BJ the Good. I Love Lucy - Desi Arnaz not given enough credit.

Richard Pryor, eh? I'll never forget the Telethon Skit where Pryor couldn't raise a Dime, so he renamed the charity "The Back To Africa" movement, and the phonelines EXPLODED! Great! What was that, 1975 or so? I remember. Hell, I remember My World And Welcome To It, which I loved, even though I was only six. As for funniest shows (which aren't EXACTLY the same thing as BEST shows), I love: The Simpsons, Beavis And Butthead, Monty Python's Flying Circus, Saturday Night Live('75 through about '78, and '90 through about '96), Fawlty Towers, The Dick Van Dyke Show, The Andy Griffith Show, The Beverly Hillbillies, Seinfeld, WKRP in Cincinnati, Married With Children, Late Night With David Letterman (before he went to CBS, forgot Chris Elliot, and became an imbecile), and, of course, I Love Lucy.
