United States Army and Canadian soldiers look over the rugged Shah-e-Kot mountains as they search for caves or Taliban and al-Qaida fighters on the loose, 25 kilometers (15 miles) southeast of Gardez, Afghanistan. About the daisy's, now that I think about it they're a summer flower. lol...Oh well, Happy Flowers!

Go ahead and speak your mind about CFR. I guess you didn't see it but I had a slight nervous breakdown on one of the CFR threads last night.

I just wrote dittomom a note. She has worked so hard on this. I hope we all stick together and support those reps who will see that it gets challenged in the courts.

I hear a Mimosa calling my name.

You know, I am so thankful for The Guild. If I see one more skany "Who's the most beautiful woman" thread, or better yet "Hooters Girls" threads, I think I'm going to puke. It almost makes me not want to come to FR anymore.

What is it with some of the guys here? It's like they've never grown up from hormonal 17 year olds. Do they have any idea how degrading it is to see these pictures posted. Some of them are so bad, it's like a porn site. =(

"How's your mother?"

My sister in laaw (who is also from MS) gets a kick out of it when I ask "how's your mama and them?", because it usually comes out "how's ya mama an nem?"

it is 7 degrees on the windchill in the heartland.

OUCH!! At least the wind wasn't blowing yesterday morning! It was kind of refreshing, I'm just glad I had on socks and sneakers, that way only my fingers and NOT my toes were numb!

Check out the Martha Stewart thread. Great stuff there.

We're only at about 68 posts, so I will refrain from starting a new thread. I'll be in Pittsburgh most of the day at my niece's 6th birthday party. Surrounded by 6-year-olds. Pray for me!

Here's to Sen. McConnell and Ken Starr and their efforts to have CFR struck down. Interestingly, they haven't seen fit to accuse Bush of treason in the process. May calmer heads prevail.

Wow, 6 year old girls!!! Eeek. Well, mine's only 16 months, so I'm not quite sure what you're in for. My son is 5 so I know what 5 year old boys are like......into everything, knocking each other over, bikes, scooters, bugs. Little boys are great. =)

Glad y'all enjoyed the Southern Girls thread. Sadly, I am only a GRITS at heart, myself, but do love almost all things southern.

mountaineer, thanks for holding down the fort while HLL is away. You have fun at the birthday party. Prayers go with you! And yes, as you say, may calmer heads prevail with respect to CFR...

Here is the latest Liza news. Poor thing, she almost got robbed! From Yahoo News:

Liza Minnelli and husband David Gest arrive at London's Heathrow Airport at the start of their honeymoon, Wednesday, March 20 2002. Thieves tried to snatch a diamond necklace from Liza Minnelli as she and her new husband David Gest drove through London, the singer's publicist said Friday, March 22, 2002. (AP Photo)

Honeymooning Liza Minnelli Attacked in London

By Michael Holden

LONDON (Reuters) - Thieves tried to grab a diamond necklace from entertainer Liza Minnelli while she was honeymooning in London with her fourth husband David Gest, her spokesman said on Friday.

The couple had just left TV studios where Oscar-winning star Minnelli, 56, had been giving an interview on Thursday night when three young robbers approached her car and tried to steal the necklace she was wearing.

"They were stopped at a traffic light and Miss Minnelli's car window was open," her spokesman told Reuters. "One of the youths put his hand in and her first reaction was that he was an autograph hunter."

The driver of her car realized what was happening and closed the window. The youths then tried to pull open the car doors but the driver sped off before they could get inside.

"She was wearing a diamond necklace and this was what must have caught their eye," the spokesman said.

The newlyweds were both unharmed and went back to their hotel before going out for dinner with British model Sophie Dahl. Police said the incident had not been reported to them.

Recently there has been an enormous rise in street crime in Britain, and in London in particular, with offences up 40 percent in the past year alone.

"Both David and Liza love London and weren't aware that these sort of things happen here. They have put it behind them now," said the spokesman, adding the couple would stay in London for a few more days before returning to America.

Minnelli, daughter of legendary Hollywood actress Judy Garland, married concert promoter Gest, 48, in New York last Saturday before a host of celebrities including Diana Ross, Elizabeth Taylor and Sir Elton John.

The star, who won an Oscar in 1972 for her role in the musical "Cabaret," has seen her career struggle in recent years following a series of health problems.

She has undergone hip replacement and back surgery, struggled with weight problems and viral encephalitis -- a potentially fatal disease that causes swelling of the brain -- and battled an addiction to pain-killers.

But she has since recovered, shedding more than 70 pounds in the process, and is due to launch a European Tour at London's Royal Albert Hall on April 2, before shows in Denmark, France, Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

I thought they were going to honeymoon in Thailand. Maybe the trip was too expensive for Mr. Gest's taste (or he couldn't persuade Denise Rich to pay for the honeymoon, as well as the bridal shower).

Good morning Guild. M - I'll trade with you. We're booked for a party celebrating one year on the planet. Nice. At least by age 6 they can maybe read all their cards. Have a tolerable time. Be safe - don't let any necklace snatchers getcha. ;-)

I visited one of the CFR threads and I was sooooo depressed and angry that I couldn't stand it. Mostly because of how they were talking about President Bush. Yes, maybe he should not have signed the bill but MY GOSH what HAS he done! I for one am thankful for him and I shudder at the thought of where we would be right now with Gore as President. I've decided that these people want it ALL their way and if one thing is done that they don't agree with then the WHOLE person is wrong. I'm sure glad they aren't judging me, cause I know I'm not perfect. SHESH!!!! Any way, I know I'm rambling please forgive me. Please tell me that I'm not alone in thinking that our President is still wonderful.

Re Liza's honeymoon. I think the trip to Thailand is/was in conjunction with a show Liza is doing there which her hubby is/was producing which means their trip will be paid for from Operating expenses.

I was flicking channels last night (yeah really) and came across one of those t.v. tab shows i.e. EXTRA and they were interviewing a very elderly soap opera queen who said that Mr. Gest proposed to her a few years ago when she was 80. She turned him down. The story is going to be in one of the Soap Opera magazines.

Since HLL is not here, someone else needs to comment on this dress. To me, it looks like the poor lady's stomach has exploded.
