Ozzy and Black Sabbath for starters.
Based on this list, Rolling Stone is apparently staffed by morons.

Van Halen (all of it, up to when they became Van Hagar)
Jethro Tull: Thick As A Brick
The Who:Quadraphenia, Tommy, Who's Next
Ted Nugent:Double Live Gonzo
Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band:Greetings From Asbury Park, The Wild, The Innocent & the E Street Shuffle, The River

1. Velvet Underground - White Light/White Heat A friend of mine used to play this album when people came to his place that he wanted to leave. They were gone before the first side was over. Absolutely terrible. Amps turned all the way with lousy distortion and Lou Reed can't find his mainline. God awful album. Rolling Stoned? No, not on drugs. Stoned by big big massive rocks on their commie lib "heads".

Some more cool, in no particular order...
Frank Sinatra, Francis A. and Edward K. (with Duke Ellington and His Orchestra)
Pink Floyd, The Piper at the Gates of Dawn
R.L. Burnside, Come On In
Junior Kimbrough, Meet Me In The City
Eno, Here Come the Warm Jets and Another Green World
John Coltrane and Milt Jackson, Bags and Trane
Wes Montgomery and the Wynton Kelly Trio, Smokin' At The Half Note
Thelonious Monk, Live At The It Club
Booker T. and the MGs, Melting Pot
Albert Collins, Truckin' With Albert Collins
Southside Johnny and the Asbury Jukes, This Time It's For Real
The Velvet Underground, VU
The Pretty Things, The Pretty Things (their 1964-65 debut and, believe me, next to these guys the Rolling Stones were just a bunch of pretenders)
Marvin Gaye, What's Going On
The Clash, Black Market Clash
Bob Marley, Dreams of Freedom

32. Chemical Brothers - Dig Your Own Hole Actually, that WAS a good album. I need to dig through my CD's and find that thing. I think it was pretty equal to Vegas by Crystal Method though.

Cheap Trick, Joan Jett, Beatie Boys, Blondie...cool?
If they want a cool album by the Stones try, "Out of Our Heads", although "Aftermath" had its moments.
Cool is any anthology by the Supremes, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye, the Four Tops, and most Phil Spector productions.
Cool was Jimmy Smith
Cool was Booker T. & the MGs
Cool was Jackie Wilson
Cool was Soul!

Having anthologies and complilations on it ruins the integrity, such as it is, of the list.

This list SUCKS!
To: socal_parrot
Cool? Ok, who remembers the Masked Marauders? It was very cool to own this album, circa 1968

lots missing ...
- Elvis Costello - "My Aim is True"
- Lynnyrd Skynnyrd - "Pronounced ..."
- Bloodhound Gang - "Hooray for Boobies"
- CCR - "Cosmos Factory"
- Meat Loaf - "Bat Out of Hell"
- Rush - "2112" and others
- REO Speedwagon - "Tune a Fish"
and they pick such a weak Dylan album (how about "Blood on the Tracks", "Blonde on Blonde", or "Bringing it all Back Home"?)

Rolling Stone ceased to be a serious magazine about the same time Jann Wenner decided he wanted to be on everybody in Hollywood and New York's A-list. Today, it's nothing more than a "People" or "Entertainment Tonight" type rag.

Basically this is a list for the pretentious, this becomes clear when they rank "Paul's Boutique" over "Licensed to Ill", a far cooler album that makes the "mistake" of being commercial.

This is so stupid. First off, the Strokes and the White Stripes don't belong anywhere near this list. They are crappy over-hyped bands that are getting a lot of attention because their parents were music superstars back in the day. Guns n' Roses "Appetite for Destruction" is the greatest rock n' roll record EVER MADE and it is not on this list. This list is garbage.

Montrose's first album. The ultimate rock and roll album.

What else is missing? What about Fleetwood Mac-Rumours.
To: socal_parrot
How could they leave off "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band"? That album was considered groundbreaking by most of the music industry. I expected to see it at or near the top of the list!

Garage sale fodder.
