Why didn't they just put Devo in there and be done with it? No Eagles, no Floyd?
(I do have 1999 though)

The Eagles? Cool? Except for Hotel California and a couple of singles (like "Witchy Woman"), I don't think so...

Michael Tilson Thomas...Rhapsody In Blue - Only if you speak of the one performed with Gershwin himself at the piano (through the courtesy of his 1925 piano roll). As for Idlewild South, it's just plain impossible to rate any Allman Brothers Band album over The Fillmore Concerts, by any criteria.

Ahhh...but grooving on a copy of Idlewild South loooong before Fillmore when they were just a regional band?
Waaayy Cool.

The Eagles? Cool?

I won't argue with you cuz I know it's just a matter of taste but, Life In The Fast Lane, Heartache Tonight, Already Gone, Seven Bridges Road, I Can't Tell You Why, Peaceful Easy Feeling, The Long Run ...

A toast to the little, local, college station that fills my ears with the wonderful sound of older blues.

And yes, the Eagles were cool.

"I love the way your sparkling earrings lay, against your skin so brown."

"I want to sleep with you in the desert tonight."

"Peaceful Easy Feeling"

I thought the first album was a little smoother than Idlewild South. Then again, I thought "It's Not My Cross To Bear" was the best piece of original blues Gregg Allman ever wrote. And I still do.

Actually, I'd have put "Desperado" (the single) astride "Witchy Woman". The Long Run was a colossal waste of time and money considering that the album wasn't even close to Hotel California. And the earlier Eagles, for my ears, were mostly a real snooze.

I love the song Desperado and sing along with it every time it plays -- which totally annoys my kids.

*heh-heh-heh-heh-heh* The eight-year-old under my jurisdiction, ever since seeing Godzilla, begs me at least three times a week to play him Led Zeppelin's "Kashmir". The dear boy - he's yet to figure out that (while the entire Physical Graffiti rates) the tracks which especially personify cool are, of course, "In My Time of Dyin'," "Houses of the Holy," "Trampled Under Foot," "Black Country Woman," "Boogie With Stu," and "Ten Years Gone"...

If a really really old grown-up (that would be YOU *L*) thinks it is cool, then to an 8 yr old, it can't possibly be cool. In fact, it is doomed to uncooldom.
