Now here's a disclaimer...I am now going to proceed to talk out of the top of my head, so therefore nothing I say should be taken as fact.

I loved "A Wrinkle in Time" when I was a kid! One my favorites, one I read the cover off of! LOL And that's what I meant when I said I felt like I'd been in a tesseract. But it seems to me (here goes the talking out of top of head) that there truly is some theory about this being possible...and that the book was loosely based on the theory.

I have been known to not know what I'm talking about in the past...

Well, the theory - that if you could "fold" space you could get from one place to another quickly - is used several places. Not always called a tesseract, basically. I don't know if it really is even possible.
