I once sat down to write a chapter and ended up writing a dialogue: me arguing with a character who refused to do anything I said and kept insulting me.

Characters are...well, they can be real pains in the neck sometimes, can't they?

And we won't even discuss plots. Plots have a life of their own, too! Mine has done almost everything BUT what I meant it to do!
