Man, there is very little I would like better than ending in Victorian times. Other than the kedgeree, spiritualists, and really, really bad artwork.

By the way, that reminds me... carton was asking about dream jobs and my dream job would be "paraphysicist involved in time travel/parallel universe research". Or "Time-travelling historian-detective-novelist". Or "programmer for the world's most sophisticated CR system"...

I've really enjoyed thinking about the Victorian era recently.

There are some old abandoned Victorian houses in the woods near where I grew up...they were for the management of an abandoned slate mill, very Halloweenish.

But recently I've been fascinated with the whole era, partly because of "To Say Nothing of the Dog," but really, what a fascinating time period. Think of the art, for instance, that was produced, both impressionim and realism. And I guess the genius, John Browning was a product of Victorian times. It goes on.

"my dream job would be "paraphysicist involved in time travel/parallel universe research". Or "Time-travelling historian-detective-novelist". Or "programmer for the world's most sophisticated CR system"...

Sounds really fascinating, scary too. Wonder if they'll ever make it happen.
