only High Elves of terrible power can do that. Like Glorfindel; he fought one at Gondolin and died. And Echthelion of the Fountain, same thing.

Is this the same Glorfindel that saves Frodo at the fords in the book. If he died he can't be, but I have noticed the Elves don't have too many juiors or the second or the third, probably due to their longevity. Ergo, how does a dead elf from the second(?) age save a little hobbit at the end of the third age?

Yeah, he got re-embodied at some point... the Fall of Gondolin was near the end of the First Age, btw. Glorfindel was probably 'sent back', similar to the way Gandalf was, because there was something he still needed to accomplish. He's one of the few cases of Elves getting re-bodied and then being allowed to hang out around us Human types.
