Hullo! I would recommend NOT trying to play the movie any more on that machine.

I got my new books today! I got the Houghton Mifflin set, with the movie covers. Also picked up the companion book to the movie, with full page pictures of each character, several smaller pictures, a big map, photos from each locale, plot synopsis, background info, etc. etc. etc. I love it!

Thank you thank you! No, I don't believe I'll try viewing the movie on this computer. It just can't do it, I'm afraid. I had to go up 3 operating systems. I was at 9.1 and I had to go up to 9.2.1 then up to 9.2.2 then up to ten...or OSX they call it. My mom got the 9.2.1 to download, but it didn't have any extensions. Then she downloaded the 9.2.2 and it put my extensions back! So I got up two OS's but didn't get the needed OSX to play the movie.

ML, I'm thrilled you got the HM version of the book. I have toyed with the thought of getting the movie cover version...and would like it if they had a set that came with The Hobbit, but I don't think they do. The set that includes The Hobbit has an artist's work on the box and covers. The reason I would like the movie version is because now is the time of the movie...and 30 years from now this time will be fun to remember. I can always get a "fancy" set later... Hmmm, maybe I can ask my hubby to get the "Collector's edition" The Hobbit and the movie cover set of LOTR for Mother's Day...hmmm...

Who drew the map in that companion book?
