We're talking about redoing the bathroom. It's revolting. It is painted the color of lime sherbet...cabinets and all. And it has this dark emerald green carpet.

Who was the moron that decided carpeting in bathrooms was a good idea? I wanna know...my bathroom has furry brown carpet, which picks up cat hair like nothing I've ever seen. It's narsty, as my brother would say.

The rest of the house has kind of a late '60's / early '70's thing going - lots of oranges and yellows and greens. Pretty ugly. I REALLY need to work on redecorating this winter. Maybe if I bribe my brothers with cookies and pizza, I can get some help, too!

You and me both! My house dates mid '70's and had the tackiest sunflower wallpaper in the kitchen. I still have the bedroom and bathroom to do...having a hard time picking a color!

It must be a Yankee thing; y'all need something to keep your feet warm when you get out of the tub. LOL!! Carpet is awful in bathrooms (for the obvious reasons with the propensity of toilets to overflow), and in the dining room, especially if you have little ones who are beginning to feed themselves.

Our first home (purchased in 1983) was the 70's style all the way with nasty green walls in the kitchen, Dark walnut cabinets, avocado appliances, and a linoleum floor that was basically black with a gold and green design. That's one reason we got such a good price on the house. It had been on the market for three years because folks walked in, took one look at the cherry red/hot pink shag rug in the Liv. and Dining rooms, and that nasty kitchen and didn't want to bother! Lucky for us! Within 6 months, the carpet in the din. room was gone; I was concerned that things were gonna start growing in it! The delightful surprise was that underneath was a gorgeous hardwood floor! Then we painted the ugly dark walnut cabinets and the kitchen walls Arctic White and put a white floor in. I swear, the room looked half again as big!

Home ownership is grand, but the work NEVER ends. Never underestimate the power of PAINT; it is an inexpensive way to change a look entirely! And it is one of those things that is not that hard to do; the preparation takes more time than the actual painting!

Thanks for your prayers for my Mama. I'll keep y'all posted.
