Why don't parents understand this?

I'm trying to figure him out. I mean, he's so transparent. Like he thinks we can't see the light from the tv under his door. He thinks we can't tell if he hasn't taken a shower. He thinks we'll believe him if he says "no homework" and ends up with Cs & Ds because of "no homework"...You know "she didn't tell us we had to turn it in..."

'Cause I remember when I was thirteen, I was a lot smarter than my parents. I knew what was going on and they were just clueless about a lot of things...

And then I think "uh oh..."

It's a rainy Monday here, and all I want to do is crawl back into bed. But I'm at work, so crawling back into bed would be a little difficult...

Sounds like our daughter at 13. Puberty is a terrible thing to have to watch, isn't it?
