I think Elrond was one of the most weakly cast individuals in the whole movie and is worthy of being bashed mercilessly, curly toenails and all....

Legolas, on the other hand, was one of the best cast and I will never bash him...

So, for me, it depends on the elf. Some are worthy of bashing....others are worthy of respect and admiration.

I'm sorry if that complicates things....

I actually like Elrond! His attitude toward men could also be because he was half-man, half-elf, though he chose the immortal life. He must have held in contempt the weaker part of his nature, having seen what became of the descendents of his brother who chose the mortal life of men.
