She has a fairly minor, supporting role until the third book, at which point she flowers. There's a bit of sexual material in the story (not with any of the child characters, and only a little bit) - I hope you won't find it offensive - but I do find the bit where Sam worries that the Greeks will think she and Orlando (in the roles of Achilles and Patroculus) are gay lovers amusing.

Not gonna worry. Often there's a place for it in a book. Usually it's better when the writer doesn't get carried away with too many details, IMHO.
