I just called my theater to confirm times, and found that today of all days, they are cutting back from 3 showings to 1!? How stupid is that? And it's a 1:30 show, so if I had not taken the day off, I would not have been able to see it!
Oh well, 5 hours to go.

The theaters nearest to me cut back to 1 show/day too at 3:30. I was planning to go to the 1:30 show in "the big city" but might not make it. (Took the car in for some work this morning and it's turning into an Andy Griffith episode :) ).

Well...I was curious so I checked up on the theaters in the area. Most of the theaters that HAD been showing LOTR are no longer showing it today.
I have to wonder, with what happened with the Cinerama (Rings fans persuaded them to bring it back next week) if the fans had known this and had jumped on their theaters in an organized fashion we would have had a lot more theaters showing the movie and the preview than we do.
I'm getting the impression that New Line has been dropping the ball on things like this--first the debacle with the Oscars, now the failure of their marketing department to get the new release into the theaters. They'd better get their act together by the time the next movie comes out...
